Manchester band James took a while to rise to fame in the UK, with notably 1991's re-release of 1989 track "Sit Down" (which reached #2 on the singles chart in March of 1991) providing the impetus for the band' success with the re-release of third studio album Gold Mother also reaching #2. The 5th studio album Laid was released in 1993 and the title track from the album was released in November of that year and went on to peak at #25 on the UK singles chart. The lyrics were controversial and for the video the lyrics were changed "she only sings when she's on top" instead of 'comes'. Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFVFP911vNk

There's a handful of 90's hits that SHOULD have become standard bar adn pub anthems by now, but for whatever reason haven't (at least here in New York). This is up near the top of the list. The Proclaimers also come to mind. Instead we're stuck with hearing "Don't Stop Believing" and "Livin' On A Prayer" for the 470th time. It might take another 10 years, but I really think it wil happen. We just haven't had the wave of 90's nostalgia yet like we had with the 80's.
