Yeah, I love his one, too. I'm glad it's being received so well.

Pretty Wings
Reviewed by Ronald Hart
After an eight-year hiatus, the neo-soul sensation Maxwell makes a triumphant return to the R&B fold with the beautiful "Pretty Wings," the first single off his highly anticipated fourth album, "BLACKsummersnight." He proclaims the set is the first part of a trilogy with which he plans to usher in the second decade of the 21st century. Over delicate xylophone plinks and warm, soulful horn arrangements that sound as though they were directly lifted from an old Hi Records 45, the Brooklyn-born singer croons a heartbreaking ode to letting go of a relationship. It's an absolutely gorgeous ballad that ushers in a long-overdue welcome return to one of R&B's most talented and original artists.

I love this now. It's definitely my second favorite song of his entire career after "Fortunate." I love the throwback feel of this song. It could have easily come out 12 years ago, and I mean that in a nice way. If this DID come out in 1997, it would still sound good today rather than dated. That's what I mean.

I just heard this for the first time. It's quality! I think it's catchier than any of the singles from his last album. That instrumentation is something you wanna just melt into.

This is the best male R&B performance of the year. I LOVE this song now. Unfortunately I listened to clips of the album and this is the only song that I do.

I think it's kind of cool that it's been almost exactly ten years since he got his only other #1 on the Billboard R&B chart. "Fortunate" was huge there in the summer of '99.

They made an error- "Fortunate" is not from 1998.

^Thanks for posting.
It's amazing that several of his singles like "Lifetime" and of course "This Woman's Work" didn't hit #1.
