It's such an adrenaline rush to be in a completely different continent and hearing a whole club go crazy and sing along to lyrics about your home city. No place in the world could pull that off other than New York.

Moves 13-3 on the Hot 100.
LMAO...one of our local radio station Morning Shows made their own version of this... it's so annoying but it's catchy and they pimp the sh*t out of it on their station.

I think this song is already considered a classic and it hasn't even peaked yet. I can't think of many other songs like that.
I love the "one hand in the air for the big city..." part.

ROFL that sounds horrible. Not to mention what the f**k is "Miami State"? So dumb.

Uh, the Jay-Z song isn't talking about New York State, it's talking about the city itself. It's a "state of mind" but it's sort of a double-play on words, because of the Empire State. but the song itself is only about the city.

Yea, no problem. You were quick to call the other song dumb for no reason...lol

Not for no reason. I still think it sounds dumb. The title "Empire State of Mind" works because it's a play on words of the eponym for New York, as well as the most famous building in the city. "Miami State" just sounds retarded!

I'm so glad that this is doing well everywhere. It's been a while since had a quality Rap song top the charts, and especially Pop radio.

I really like this and it's ALWAYS on the radio, but it still feels like a regional song, to me. I wonder if it will outpeak "Run This Town" on Pop.

This had a 21.4 million increase in audience this week. That's HUGE considering how high up it already was.

#1 on R&B 100 and up to #2 on the Hot 100! Does this have any shot at #1? With those audience gains maybe it's possible?

This and Ke$ha are battling for the 2nd largest bullet on CHR...almost at +1000 I wonder if this will be able to outpeak "Run This Town" at Pop (#9)
