LOL will.i.am played this at a rave back in June (he is the world's worst DJ btw and needs to stop pretending he can make real dance music but that's a different discussion) and it was a total WTF moment for the whole crowd.
it was awful then and still is now.

My lawd, this song gets worse with repeated listens. Easily one of the worst of the year, I hope this stalls.

I don't like this song. I'm not surprised it's doing well.

The reactions that people have the first time they hear this are hilarious.

International superstars the Black Eyed Peas flew overseas to London to perform on “The X Factor,” doing a rendition of their hit single “The Time (Dirty Bit)” off their recently released album The Beginning. Dressed in futuristic ensembles, Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo danced at the front of the stage as dancers with light-up blocks on their heads hit choreographed moves behind them. Watch the funky four take it to the future.

Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't starting to enjoy this slightly, Certain parts are fun to groove to, but overall the whole song's such a clusterf**k that I still can't totally get into it. It sounds like twelve different songs mashed up, and ten aren't good. The hook's admittedly so stupid it's fun and the pre-verse instrumental is HOT, but the verses and the random interjections ("I'M! HAVING! A GOOD! TIME! WITH YOU!" and that "international mega smash" nonsense) kill the momentum.
Interestingly, the bullet's slowed down noticeably. I wouldn't be remotely stunned if this called out poorly, but if it were going to disintegrate entirely, I feel like it would have happened sooner. With the success and notoriety it's achieved until this point, I'd be stunned if it didn't go Top 5.

The song's a blast in the club, IMO because it strikes a good balance between being danceable and nostalgic cheese, while being easy to sing along to. But it's just so awful when it's on the radio - should've been a club-only single.

I completely agree. This song is pretty stupid but the beat is hot and is easy to dance to. It's not any more offensive than pretty much all of there hits off of The End.

I can't believe this is actually growing on me. Only a little bit though. I know. It's so bad, it's good...like IGAF, except trashier...more like IGAF meets Boom Boom Pow. I just can't believe how incredibly lazy Will.I.Am has become as a producer. He's SO BAD. This 8-bit stuff sounds so cheap and...2008? It's like they really have absolutely zero integrity now.

Although this became a hit, I'm glad this didn't become a No. 1 smash like "Boom Boom Pow" or "I Gotta Feeling". Hopefully they've learned that they can't put out any trash and expect it to be a record breaking hit every time.

The song itself wasn't much worse than their other singles. But the Dirty Dancing sample was just ridiculous.
