Wow, a new Strokes album... it's been a long time coming. The initial reviews for this have all been good, should be leaking any minute now.
Their last album was a mixed bag, but "You Only Live Once" is easily one of my fav rock songs of the the 2000's. Should have been the first single!

I love this. It's like "Someday" meets "Hard To Explain." I'd compare it to Is This It material. It's a lot cleaner, but not in the way First Impressions of Earth was - Julian's voice has no filter, and the instruments are all audible, but it's still really gritty, and the melodies and harmonies are REALLY strong. Hopefully this will do well for them. I know it'll be huge on KRBZ.

I really like this! I'm not sure I'd say they evolved their sound much, but they didn't disappoint nonetheless - I definitely hear the "Someday" comparison. Given Alternative radio's current climate, I think this could go Top 10, something the last album's singles never accomplished.

Not sure if I *love* this song, but it's solid and has that signature Strokes sound. Makes me wonder if this album will be a total throwback, or if they just wanted to go with something more classic-sounding as their single.
EDIT: By the way, this should be "Under Cover of Darkness" (no "the").

This reminds me of classic, Is This It Strokes meets guilty, angsty teenage pleasures from when I was in high school (Taking Back Sunday - Cute without the E, Say Anything - Alive With The Glory of Love, Hot Hot Heat - Bandages).

Love this, I agree, classic Strokes sound. But there is nothing wrong with that.

This is really nice if nothing amazing. It sounds like a change of style to me... it's less English sounding and more Cali sounding. The opening chords practically remind me of ska.
