Incubus are back with a new single “Adolescents”, lifted from their first album in five years If Not Now, When?, due out July 12. By the title of the song you can probably tell that it’s about youthful angst, but more from the perspective of a grown adult still experiencing those feelings of teenage turmoil. The production is strong, with several lengthy, instrumental sections in the song, which just go on to make lead singer Brandon Boyd’s voice all the more powerful when he lets it out. It’s also got a big sing-a-long chorus, which should make for some good fun at live shows.

I really like this. They've created a great musical atmosphere with this one, and although the lyrics are simple, they resonate with me.
That said, I'm not sure how good of a single this is. It will probably at least hit the top 5 based on buzz, but I could see stations dropping this quickly as it really isn't all that obviously radio-friendly. I'd love to be wrong though. And for all we know, this could end up being the most accessible song on the whole album.

I like this, but I like a lot of what Incubus puts out. I agree this isn't necessarily a great single though. I'd normally expect a lead single from them to be stronger than this.
