Go to countrystars.com and read what Mrs. Dixie Chick has to say about country music. What a freakin joke this is. She sees now that the Chicks will never be welcomed back to country music and is trying to sever all ties. Well....snip..... it is severed with me. I was more than willing to let their new music speak for it self but now I will never ( or at least hope to never) hear any of their music again. Good Riddance

I don't see a problem, but maybe because I don't care if she's loyal to country. She's always shown a lot of interest in folk-pop, working with artists like Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow and she wants to stand up for what she believes in regardless of whether or not it means major commercial success.

I think she's absolutely right. Country radio isn't going to play her anymore because of one comment she made as a free citizen three year ago. Country radio is hurting themselves with their closed-mindedness, as they've isolated their most viable act and pretty much all Americans who aren't part of the far right. Bottom line is they'll be neglected of what could have been more classic songs from a very talented Country group. As long as she's not quitting music altogether, I have to say "good for her" for following her heart and finding a way to stay in the music business without sucking up to people who turned on her for no reason at all.

I never liked them anyway, before and after the whole controversy. I really didn't like her after what she said about President Bush. It's one thing to express your freedom of speech here in the US. But to bash our leader in another country to win over a crowd... it's un-American. And don't get me wrong.... I'm a full fledged Democrat and don't like Bush myself. So good riddens! If I never hear them on country radio again, it'll be too soon.

If I never hear them on country radio again, it'll be too soon. I can understand what you're saying. But, at the same time, it's not like she said what she did in a country like France or Germany. Her comment was made in the UK, which is our #1 ally, has the same foreign policy as us, and shares a language and lifestyle with us. So yeah, her comment was made outside of the US, but Natalie is from a free country speaking to a crowd in another free country. Also, I feel like some parts of the media are making it out to be Bush = America, and if you have something negative to say about Bush, you're "not American." The whole ordeal with the Dixie Chicks really added to that in my opinion. I like to look at it as Natalie loves her country so much, that it upsets her with how things are going with the current administration's policy, so she wants change for (in her mind) the better good of the country. Anyway, all that aside, I still think they should get radio support. If R. Kelly is getting Pop and Urban airplay after being an alleged statutory rapist , surely Natalie should get airplay for having a different (yet still mainstream) political opinion than her base format.

It's not what she said that makes me so mad. It's the backtracking that she seems to be doing to try and make herslef look and feel better. She wasn't complaining when the Chicks were selling millions of albums. They threw "I Hope" out to country radio as a test to see where they stood and found out that they have nowhere to stand. Yeah I think it is silly that they aren't getting played for her speaking her opinion but she had to know that it would get back to the U.S. and there would be heavy backlash. I think that enough time had passed for them to have released some new material to country radio but I Hope was HORRIBLE. If that was what we had coming from these girls than maybe they should go to another genre. Like I said it's not what she said but how she has handled it since. I just wonder what the other two girls think about all this. It's all Natalie all the time and no comments form the other two.
