This is one of my favorite pop ballads from Mariah. The piano chords, the verses, the chorus, her effortless belting, everything about this song is like magic to me. I am in musical heaven whenever I listen to it.

One of my least favorites on Butterfly. It was a good thing she dumped Walter Afanasieff because this is when he started running dry. It's just too bad she replaced him with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

This is pop schmaltz near its worst. This is "When I Saw You" part 2.

I love this song less and less over the years. Close My Eyes and Breakdown still remain my favourites from the Butterfly album.

Yeah, the B. McKnight version adds nothing special to the song. What a waste of a collaboration; although he sounds pretty good on his parts.

This is pop schmaltz near its worst. This is "When I Saw You" part 2. I actually like this better than "When I Saw You." This is a beautiful song, however. Her voice sounds fantastic.

For some reason, I feel like this song was included on the Butterfly album just incase Mariah needed a safe ACish hit. It ok nothing special not a song I got out of my way to listen to on the Butterfly album.

Yeah, the B. McKnight version adds nothing special to the song. What a waste of a collaboration; although he sounds pretty good on his parts. It wasn't re-recorded but I still liked it. It's probably one of the last pop ballads that i've liked by her.

It ok nothing special not a song I got out of my way to listen to on the Butterfly album. She really likes this song, she already said it. Just because it´s an AC-oriented ballad doesn´t mean she doesn´t like it

It's probably one of the last pop ballads that i've liked by her. It's probably the last pop ballad I liked by her PERIOD. Since then, she's had a few pop ballads here and there ("Lead the Way," "Never Too Far," "I Only Wanted," etc.), but none of them really captured that magic for me the way this song did.
