I really like this and it's probably the next candidate for Alternative to Pop crossover success because of its similarity to "Tongue Tied."

Their first single off of The 2nd Law was released worldwide today. It's early, but this is receiving a lot of Love/Hate responses just based on how different it is from ALL their prior stuff.
I really don't know what to think, but my first thought was that they are turning into U2 and they're doing a pop album. I need more time to digest this one, but I'm just happy we're done with they god-awful Olympics theme.

Easily one of my favorite new artists of the year. He was recently signed to Glassnote records so a full length debut should be in the works. In the meantime, there's plenty of good stuff to check out from him. "Global Concepts" has been insanely successful at my favorite Alternative station (they're the only ones playing it thus far).

First single off Babel was sent to radio nationwide today. I think they could put out anything and it would do well. On first listen, seems as good as their prior stuff.

Out of left field, but I love this. One of my absolute favorites right now.
Normally I could take or leave either of these artists (though Matisyahu's new release has some surprisingly good stuff), but this is catchy and perfect for summer. There's usually a reggae hit or two each summer on Alternative and this should be this years.

Second single off Master of My Make-Believe. Really love this one much more than "Disparate Youth." I'm really surprised this album didn't get a lot of buzz. It's another pretty solid effort from her.

First single off their sophmore effort. I really have no gauge as to how this will perform, but I'm liking it so far.

Actually, I think this one really is a grower. Reminds me a lot of "When You Were Young" in that regard.
Huge first week out of the gate for this.

Looks like today is the day for new Green Day. The long-awaited first single off the upcoming album Uno!, the first in their upcoming album trilogy.

Really an underrated song that is gaining a bit of airplay now on AAA. They sound a bit like White Lies here. Personally, I think that style suits them.

So apparently this has been out in Europe since 2010, but no one told me until this summer when it released here. Loving "Plage" and especially "At Home" which I hear on the radio from time to time. Such a pleasant song.

I'm not sure how or why, but at some point in the past few weeks "City Grrrl" just clicked with me and now I'm totally obsessed with it. It's officially my summer jam which is a little awkward being a straight male.

The Killers are back with their first single off their 4th album Battle Born. The opening sounds like something off Brandon Flowers' underrated solo album, but the rest of the song reminds me of one thing and one thing only. Journey. I'm anxious to hear thoughts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LOeImx0kW4

I was reluctant to give this one a try, but after hearing a lot of positive word of mouth about this album I gave it a listen. If you've ever liked Smashing Pumpkins before, don't let this one pass you by. The new album has received zero promotion, but eventually this song is going to be big for him.

First single off Four. It's been a while since they had a legitimate hit stateside, but this has potential to bring them back to relevancy here. Liking this a lot on first listen.

After another hiatus, Shiny Toy Guns are back with Carah Faye Sisely Treasure Carah Faye on vocals now.
We Are Pilots was one of my favorite albums last decade and this definitely sounds like it's from that era. This single grew on me, but unfortunately it sounds a bit dated as well. Looking forward to the whole album though. Hope they can survive another round.

This lead single is so bland, but the album as a whole is so good. Two stellar albums in a row. I think this had to be the lead single since it's the most commercial-friendly, but I'm much more into "Speed The Collapse" and "Breathing Underwater." One of those two should be the second single.

Love this! Passion Pit is back with a PERFECT song for summer. This is very different from what I was expecting from them, but I'm impressed.

I have a feeling this is going to be big. A little something to hold over the Phoenix fans until their new album is released.

This is doing great for them. I used to really like this song and I bought the album on a flyer a couple weeks ago. It's pretty solid. "Stubborn Love" is a terrific track as well.

First single off of Handwritten
Seriously, what is it going to take for this band to get some proper recognition. Everything they've done has been so solid. It's just that the Jersey/Springsteen sound has been out for some time now.

Released today.
I f'in love them. Even when they do a song that sounds generic like Muse's "Uprising."

Ha. I was wondering why the electronic opening sounded so retro. Was thinking of Stabbing Westward and then realized it was what you said. They sound like them 12 years ago. I kind of like this also and I really wasn't expecting to. I'm not a big Linkin Park fan, but it's surprising how little cred they get considering one of the Top 2 Alternative bands in terms of success over the past decade.
