"U Got It Bad" part 23984758568. Great. I also hated this at first, but it's nice enough and I like it now. She really can't keep getting away with rehashes like this, though.

This is clearly WBT Part 3 but I don't care. It's now my favorite song on the album and I'm so sad it wasn't the second single. I'll probably be playing this on my iPod all Spring, so I'll likely be sick of it by the time it's considered for fourth single.

I don't really think this sounds like U Got It Bad or We Belong Together. I think any ballad she makes for now on is going to get WBT references.

This song is so gorgeous! I can't understand why it was overlooked for the second single.

This actually sounds very similar to WBT in terms of structure at least. It's a short song, the bridge is missing and the chorus-belting is the same.

I loved this song at first and now I can't even listen to ten seconds of it. The only ballad on the album I like is "Last Kiss" - shocking, I know, but true.

This would be a FIRE fourth single. This would have more success than "For the Record."

I love the vocals at the end. They're some of her strongest in years. I just think this sound like a second rate, more boring "Don't Forget About Us."
People always skip over and b*tch about "Last Kiss" because of Jermaine Dupri, but it's seriously her catchiest, most-feel good midtempo ballads since Always Be My Baby. It's the obvious fourth single to me.

I think if she is going for a ballad it should be For the Record. That song is extremely catchy.

I love this song but EVERY ballad/mid tempo on this album is a knock off/remixed version of "We Belong Together" so I wouldn’t just single this one out as being such. I think most of the ballads on the album are missing a bridge and she does this random belting at the end after listening to 3 minutes of whisper and crackle on all of them.

Goes for adds on CHR/POP, RHYTHMIC, and URBAN on October 21st.
Releasing this is as typical as the song itself. I hope she realizes that if this is yet another flop, radio's never going to love her the same way again. If L.A. Reid wanted to release a ballad, he should have gotten her ass in the studio to record a new one, because none of them on E=MC are worthy of being released (I love FTR, but it doesn't stand a chance).
Who knows, though. I highly doubt it's going to save the era, but from a safe, strategical standpoint this makes sense - at least the ballad is properly timed for fall/winter, and the Rihanna/Britney/Beyonce essentially won't be huge competitors for airplay since they're releasing uptempos and poppy midtempos. It will also inevitably cross formats better than any of the previous E=MC2 singles.
This is much stronger than "Bye Bye" in terms of structure (thank god), and vocally it's the best song on the record, but it's about as inspired as "Don't Forget About Us" - which may ultimately bode well for it's release - but sucks for us fans.
As happy as I would be if she was on top again, I'd also be upset if by some miracle of god this became another number one. It'd be right up there with Thank God I Found You and Don't Forget About Us as her most forgettable, massive hits. I guess they can't afford another risk after IBLULT.
Like it's been stated many times in this thread, though, this (or Migrate) should've been the second single.

I'm afraid it's too late. Should have been the second single. It would've been a huge No. 1 smash for her.

You have got to be kidding me, flop. I think the melody and chorus is pretty strong, but the production is sooooooooo bad.

Like it or not, Mariah has earned flop status with the pop radio crowd now, and they don't like to dwell too long on flop artists (even if the song is stellar). I think the song will have lukewarm airplay on Rhythmic and maybe Urban, but pop is out of the picture at this point.

You have got to be kidding me, flop. I think the melody and chorus is pretty strong, but the production is sooooooooo bad. Agreed - I think someone like Danja or Polow would've taken it to a different level. An acoustic guitar harmony would really compliment the piano well, and the climax is screaming for an electric guitar solo ("Burn"). It's just such a simple loop and I feel like adding two more elements still wouldn't make it sound overproduced. JD would be just as capable, but he would absolutely ruin the track with his awful spoken intro and stupid, endless muttering. "Bleeding Love" sounded cheap as hell, too (not saying this has a chance to be anywhere near as big as that song). I guess I'm a little bit more enthusiastic about this release after hearing a bunch of people blasting "Don't Forget About Us" in the French Quarter. People really do love her for her ballads - "Bye Bye" just sucks - point blank period. The era would've been entirely different had this been released second.
