wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/amywyouk.wmawm.allaccess.com/allaccess/amywyouk2.wmaGoes for adds on February 6. I'd love for her to have even a little bit of success here, but this is going to be a mess. This is a solid song, but it's like the weaker version of "Rehab" basically. They should have sent "Rehab" to Triple A and then attempted a pop crossover with some major promotion. This song is not suited for current Alternative radio.

I love this, the remix is hot as well. She doesn't scream cross-over to me at all though. Maybe if VH1 got behind her or something.

What format do you guys think she'd succeed on?

I'd start it at Triple A and Urban AC and see which format takes more of a liking to her. From Triple A, she could move ahead to Hot AC. From Urban AC, they could attempt Urban and Rhythmic. I think Alternative is the totally wrong format though. They might as well send this to country. Female rockers don't have success at Alternative anymore, let alone females doing Motown inspired R&B.

Thanks! It seems like everything that's difficult to pigeonhole is stuck in alternative thesedays, it's like the wasteland format that time forgot.

Ten years ago, this would have had a shot at Alternative, but not now. Alternative used to be more accepting because it was the anti-pigeonhole format. Even then though, this would have been lucky to break Top 20. Ever since nu-metal broke through, songs like this are a huge no-no.

Def Jam is promoting the remix as a single from the new Ghostface album. this is all confusing. That's probably the reason it's a single, but in that case it would be promoted in the general "urban' universe, wouldn't it? "Rehab" would be even harder to categorize for them.
exactly. they sent Lily Allen there too, but even that made more sense than this. If Alternative radio actually looked like everything they put for adds, i'd listen to it. though first there'd have to be an actual alternative station here...

There's a new remix (the Skeewiff remix). It has more alternative production, but her vocals are obviously still very jazzy and retro.

I'm moving this because it looks like if it's going to do anything, it's going to be at Triple A.

Whoa! Ghostface gets like a full minute in this remix. I still like the original more, but I can actually see this doing well at urban.

This would be like the most random person ever to have an Urban hit. Some alcoholic semi-Bohemian white girl from Britain that's considered to be Alternative by many. Wow.
