It's not out of touch as much as it is same old same old. People eat up Beyonce because it's Beyonce. J. Lo needs to make trends, not follow them, if she wants buzz.

People eat up Beyonce even though she does the same ol same ol. She is just at a point where she has enough buzz to release just about anything and make it work. J. Lo just doesnt have that anymore and i dont think it matters what she releases at this point. I hope she can go top 20.

The difference between Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce releasing music of a generic sound is Beyonce at least has the ability to deliver a decent vocal performance in addition to displaying some personailty...Jennifer can't. If Jennifer wants to find success in the music industry, she's going to have to record something fresh with big beats and a catchy melody considering she has zero musical talent she can rely on.

The other thing is that J. Lo rehashes the same sound that worked for her in 2002-2003. She needs to evolve a little. "Louboutins" and "Do It Well" sound no more recent than "I'm Real" or "Jenny From The Block."

Jennifer Lopez is ready to spread some holiday cheer this Wednesday when she performs her new single “Louboutins” on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance.
The shows choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon revealed that the triple-threat diva will be ditching the boxing ring set up that she used at the AMA’s and Ellen, instead changing her performance to a festive Christmas theme.
“The idea is kind of a cross between a Marilyn Monroe, ‘Santa Baby’ and a ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend,’ but using shoes. Shoes are a girl’s best friend nowadays instead of diamonds.”
“What would a girl want for Christmas? Of course it would be a shiny pair of Louboutin shoes … It’s for the holiday season [and] we’re putting a holiday twist to ‘Louboutins.’”
Don’t expect Jlo to fall on her ass again though, because she’ll be avoiding any big jumps this time around.
“We’re steering clear of some big jumps,” says Tabitha. “I feel like we don’t have to be dangerous anymore … Though I appreciated seeing guys with their shirts off personally — [there will be] no sweaty backs, no shirtless guys. We’re going to have some classy looking guys.”
Despite rumours swirling that Jennifer Lopez was ready to pull the plug on her new single “Louboutins”, things seemed quite the opposite when the diva did a round of interviews this morning to chat about the upcoming “Louboutins” music video, which will see the singer dancing up a storm in a custom pair of kicks designed by Christian Louboutin himself.
It’s gonna be a lot of dancing, I definitely want to do some dancing because it’s been a while and I want to do a dance video, and it’s going to be really empowering. It’s going to be about that woman, you know when you have that moment when you realize you have to really get out of here that’s the moment we’re trying to cauterize in the video. Even when you know that it’s gonna hurt later, you feel good about making the decision, so you’re like “I decided! I’m walking up out the house right now” and that’s the part we’re gonna do in the video except I’m gonna dance my way out the house dancing, and maybe she’ll take her Louboutins with her (laugh). [source]
A director for the video has not yet been chosen, but according to Epic Records the rumours that Anthony Mandler is being considered are true, but no decision has been finalised yet.

Don't blame the promotion when this officially flops. Because this promo would be killer for an album release.

3 performances? i guess lol.
It takes more than that to sell an album these days. Her promo is off to a good start and much better than the last album, i just hope they keep up the momentum. Its going to take more than getting booked on a couple of tv shows to have a comeback.
Hopefully they can get some kind of marketing campaign with Christain Louboutin which would be great promo for the song. Hopefully some tv spots for the song at the top of the year when shows start new episodes.

I really like the verses on this, it's really just the chorus that hurts it for me.
