FINALLY. I actually think this will hit big before summer since it's so immediate. I think if 1901 can manage #5, this can go to the top.

I think all of the commercial exposure is what helped "1901" do so well though. Hopefully they have more lined up for this, but even though it's so much catchier, I don't know if this can get huge on its own.

I don't know...I think it will be big, just because they had so much hype last year and music directors will be curious and test it. 1901 also tested REALLY well in call-out....but yeah, that could be due to the adds. Regardless, though, I think it made a name for them. This isn't an MGMT situation where one went Top 20, and the next will have to climb up the charts on it's own merit.
KROQ (Los Angeles), WFNX (Boston) and KNDD (Seattle) - three of the biggest Alt stations in the country - have already added it. KLSU, WXRT, WRXP, WSUM, and WARQ, just to name a few, are also already on this.

Yeah I also hear this on the AAA station in New York. I HOPE it's huge, just nothing is guarenteed because active rock still dominated the format. You're right though- the initial signs are all positive.

It's weird people are becoming obsessed with this album again.

I've never let go of the obsession. I've had Wolfgang on repeat since May.

David do you know what this song is actually about? There are a lot of different interprations on SongMeanings.com, but do you know if the band has ever described its meaning in their own words?

I hope this does well, but frankly I burned out on this song months ago.

Funny you mentioned that, actually...I got to interview Thomas and all the guys from Phoenix when I was still working for WTUL (was also fortunate enough to do interviews with other big names in the "indie" realm like M.I.A. and Kevin Barnes from Of Montreal). Anyway, I asked him what it was about, and he said he watched the movie (Lisztomania) a few years back, and wasn't a fan, but it propelled him to do more research on Franz Liszt, who he is really fascinated by. Liszt was apparently ballin' out of control, had fans swooning over him, became huge...that was "Lisztomania." He said it's basically about his reconciliation with the music industry.

I still think this is going to be huge. Stations still have 1901 in heavy rotation.

I can't get into any of the remixes. I don't know why but none of them do it for me.
I can never get tired of the original though.

That's a really nice version. This song is so melodically rich.
