Scenester song as I expected. MTV reported this about the song:
They suck live sometimes during TV appearances so I'm going to expect a big mess out of that performance.

I have no expectations for this. Maybe I'll be surprised.

This is really dance at the beginning. I don't like it that much right now, I think I still prefer their previous first and second single.

This is just alright to me. The vocals are a little too over-the-top for me.

This is okay.
It seems more like a Tenacious D song during the verses. I don't like the chorus though.

The video's good but not great. I've had high expecations for their vids since "Sugar" and "Dance Dance" and wrote off "16 Candles" as a fluke, but eh.
Near the middle where Pete doing a photo shoot he was wearing the hoodie from those pics and thought it was a nod to it, but no, he's actually doing that. And Pete has to put a kiss in there for himself.

I want the Get Up Kids back. A lot of good bands died in 2005, Get Up Kids were one of them.

This seems to be done at Alternative radio. I'm not surprised. Between them becoming more of a TRL/Pop-based band and releasing a (lame) single with verses that sound ripped from a 2000 Backstreet Boys record, they were hard-pressed to duplicate the success of their first two singles.

It would be weird if that album track ends up being more succesful than this.

That's only because said random album track was sent to iTunes. They're doing an online pre-order next week with the single download, so i'm assuming Arms Race will be on iTunes on the 26th. (though the pre-order special itself is on Walmart.com. wtf?! who actually does that?)
not sure how much of a seller it'll be, but Sugar and Dance Dance were million sellers and much of that was before they broke on radio.
