I think people are over-estimating this. I love the song, but it's not nearly as US-friendly as "Promiscuous."

"Hollaback" didn't sound radio friendly at all to me either the first time I heard Love.Angel.Music.Baby. But it was a super catchy novelty song by a hot artist so radio ate it up, and that's what "Man Eater" is too. It's exactly what iTunes users go crazy over too. So even if this song takes off slowly at radio, I expect downloads to transform it into a smash.

The same as "Promiscuous." Those two songs are way more comparable to me. I think "Maneater" will do fine in downloads (not nearly as well as "Promiscuous), but airplay is another question.

I think both Hollaback girl and Maneater are catchy as hell.

I actually think "Man Eater" is more radio friendly than "Hollaback Girl." Yeah, "HG" seems radio-friendly to us now, but that's because we've all been conditioned to it as a radio smash already. But based on first listen of both songs I just think "Man Eater" has more radio appeal. It's silly to argue though because the whole point is that they're the same type of song lol.

i don't agree i always thought Hollaback girl was radio friendly and had smash written all over it and i think it's catchier than maneater but i think the difference is that HG i catchy but in an annoying way so it got old fast and this might not happen to Maneater.

Agreed. When i've listened to LAMB the first time i knew that both "Rich Girl" and "Hollaback Girl" should be a single. Fresh song + Killer beat produced by the Neptunes = SMASH.

I don't know. I honestly thought HG was too radical and out there for radio the first time I heard LAMB, but I was proven wrong.

Yeah, the first time I heard it, I remember thinking "Wow, this would be so hot on radio but I know this is way too ecclectic for them to actually play." I kind of got the same impression from "Man Eater," but A) radio IS more ecclectic now and B) Nelly's song doesn't have blatant cursing and a high school pep rally breakdown. That's why I say Nelly's song is slightly more radio-friendly.

slang:A woman who is considered dangerous or threatening to men.

slang:A woman who is considered dangerous or threatening to men. And I always thought that Nelly was warning a guy about some other woman in the song. After seeing the video, I think Nelly is calling herself the man eater? Or what? Anyone want to explain the lyrics? haha

This needs a rapper on it to make it to the top, I nominate Ludacris.

Nelly-Furtado.net posted a radio rip of a supposedly official remix with a rapper on it.
