This is one of those songs that I had heard for years before I had any idea who sang it. But I should have known that the vocoder-enhanced vocals on an R&B/funk track are unmistakably Roger Troutman/Zapp. (That is, before T-Pain came around) This is kind of a classic early-1980s funk/dance song. It was produced by Bootsy Collins. The beat on this one is crazy. Hot 100: #86, US R&B: #2 VIDEO

I don't really love any Zapp songs. I mean I like them, but don't love them. The whole vocoder thing gets really old.
