Many might not know this, but "Rainy Dayz" was initially offered to TLC. The group turned down the offer, but traces of TLC could still be found in the lyrics ("We're always living so crazy, sexy and cool"; "Didn't we tell you before about chasin' those waterfalls?"). The song was on the re-release of Mary's 7th studio album, No More Drama, and featured rapper Ja Rule, who was featured in a string of #1 hits that year with "Always On Time"/"I'm Real"/"Ain't It Funny." Produced by Irv Gotti, who was responsible for many hits at the time, "Rainy Dayz" peaked at #12 on Bilboard and became a hit for both Mary and Ja.

It was a solid single release. Not one of my favorites by Mary.

I liked this for a minute, but it's SO bad. This is one of her worst singles. The fact that they left all the TLC references in there is cringeworthy. I didn't buy the No More Drama album until she re-released it though. I'm glad I waited because the re-release was a lot better even though this wasn't the reason. "He Think I Don't Know" is a JAM.

I liked this at the time, but I seriously haven't heard it in years. I don't even remember how it goes.

I don't like it. There was something that was "shining a bright light on a bad coat of paint" about it.

LOVE IT. GREAT SONG FOR THAT MOMENT. TLC WERE IDIOTS TO REJECT IT. The production was hot and its just a pleasant song. And she says "didn't THEY tell you!" HOT SCREAMFEST @ DIVA'S LIVE WITH NIPPY! youtube.com/watch?v=3hfZJUqcn98Whitney missed the rehearsal and didn't know the words to the song so she just came out screaming I FEEL LIKE AN ANGEL over and over.

This is an okay song. It would have been a lot better if TLC did it. Even though Mary did a good job- this still sounds like a TLC song and not like a Mary song. Ja Rule also sounds on maybe his all-time worst here. The song would improve majorly if he were chopped off of it.
T-Boz on the verses. Chilli on the chorus. Lefteye instead of Ja Rule. (And she was still alive when this came out)
It would have made a better lead single for them than "Girl Talk."

While Mary sounds fine, I couldn't help but think of how TLC would've sounded on this song. I like the way you broke down the song for each member of the group. That breakdown, and some harder/bouncier beats a la TLC's "Kick Your Game" or "Creep," and the song would've been phenomenal.

Such a feel good track. Not one of her best singles by any stretch of the imagination, but I like it. The TLC references are hilarious.
