Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, "No More Drama" was the second single from Mary's 7th studio album of the same name. The song samples a piece of music from the soap opera, The Young and the Restless, and became another hit for Mary, peaking at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The heartwrenching video features powerful scenes of street violence, drug use and domestic violence. You can also see brief images of Mariah and P. Diddy during the emotional scene at the end, when Mary passionately pours her heart out in front of a display of TVs.

I liked this a lot, especially the build-up at the end. Mary gave amazing performances of this song. It really shows what a piece of crap album this is though that not only did they end up putting a reject from the Mary album on it, but they released it as the second single. I always looked at No More Drama like a rushed collection of songs that they surrounded "Family Affair" with so they could release it before it became dated. That's Mary's only album that I feel that way about.

HOT!!!!!!!!! This was actually supposed to be on the Mary album, but they ended up saving it. Good thing they did because this turned into a career-defining anthem for Mary. It's really one of the best songs she's ever recorded. And EVERY.SINGLE.TIME she performs it there is so much energy and passion. CLASSIC! The famous performance at the Grammy Awards. Mama brought the house down. Standing ovation! Had Celine Dion in the audience with her jaw on the floor! youtube.com/watch?v=_se5P3yioO4

I LOVE that Grammy performance, it's even better than Christina's AMAZING performance of "It's A Man's World".

Maybe I shoulda refreshed before I pressed enter. Miss Lanida already covered everything. I really like what you had to say and I agree, this song was definitely a "moment" for Mary. I'm surprised it only peaked at #15 on the Hot 100 and #16 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. I heard this song CONSTANTLY on the radio back then. It felt like a much a bigger hit.

I don't really like this song. The remix is slightly better.
But I will admit that she consistently nailed performances of this.

The sample was cheesy, but she totally overcame it IMO. Great vocal and she always killed this live. The remix is fun too.
The video was great, but putting Mariah and Diddy in it totally knocked it down a letter grade. Here you have this powerful video dealing with real issues, and then you show two air-headed celebrities who acted a damn fool, it really threw the whole thing off.

This song is utterly amazing. Mary is hands down the most powerful and influential r&b singer of the last 15 years. She poors her guts into this song.

Loved this song and still do - probably my favorite Mary record of all time. If anyone else tried to sample The Young and the Restless it would have been catastrophic, but the instrumentation fit this song to a tee. Fantastic buildup and so much emotion. The last minute or so where Mary belts always gives me the chills.
