It's exceedingly rare that a record comes along which can properly be called seminal. Walk This Way was seminal not just once but twice: the original version from the superb 'Toys In The Attic' album and the rap/rock remix fronted by Run-DMC.
Some of my friends hated that remix but I loved it. The original set a new standard for hard rock music by showing that not only could you dance to it, you wanted to dance to it. The remix was like deja vu all over again. Rap was becoming the preferred format for dance musc, and Walk This Way once again showed that dance music could really rock.
I love both versions. The original will always hold a special place in my heart, but this is one of the rare cases where a cover version of a massive hit has met or exceeded the standard of quality set by the original.

I love both versions too. Really fun song to hear in bars. Me too. Both versions have something special in them, and I just like that.

I love both versions too. Really fun song to hear in bars. I'm really surprised to see I typed this because I was just coming in to say that I don't care for this song. Uh... what was I thinking then?
