I've got this on CD somewhere.
It was slaughtered by that "deputy" on American Idol. Then saturday at my friends house they had on this "raggae channel" and this came on. It was fun.

I feel like this song is very important to music and even to culture, especially reggae and Jamaican culture.. but it's definitely not my favorite by him. As much as I like Eric Clapton, I hate the fact that he covered this song. It just doesn't work for me. It only makes it worse that his cover outperformed Marley's by a million miles and became his biggest hit.

Anyone have peaks for both?

Bob Marley's didn't chart. Eric Clapton's went to #1.

Dang, that's unreal. I suppose I'll have to take a listen to his version now.

It's not that it's bad. It's just I can't listen to a European white man sing about Jamaican struggles with the government and take it seriously. I know Eric Clapton was interpreting it in another way, but still.

It's alright. Not my favorite from Bob Marley though.

I just listened to a clip. Couldn't even finish it. It wasn't awful, but this is just one of those songs that the original could never be topped.
