I thought it only appropriate for the biggest song in radio history to have a spot on the Soundcheck board. THe perfect example of Brill Building 1960s pop music. Written by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, and Phil Spector, (produced by Spector) this song never gets old. Features the best opening line in music history, "You never close your eyes/anymore when I kiss your lips." I love the irony of that line. How does the speaker know his lover's eyes are open when they kiss? Because his are open too!! It's brilliant. Spector listed the song as only 3:05 even though it was really 3:50 because radio might've been hesitant to play it at 3:50, but he knew once they played it once, they'd never stop, and he was right.
