1997 Summer jam! I love how it's tropical dance. It totally has that reggae sound and incorporates it into Dance music.

Oh man, this song brings back memories!...of being a ridiculously-awkward-but-thought-i-was-the-sh*t-because-i-was-starting-8th-grade 13 year old tryin' to look pimp at the summer dances....
I've been wondering about one thing for a long time, though: is the vocalist Melanie Thorton, from La Bouche/Le Click? If it isn't, it sure sounds like her.

I loved this song! Z95.7 (RIP) played this heavily back in 1997. This is a favorite of mine! Mr. President is from Germany. The vocalist isn't Melanie Thornton (RIP).

I see the Meleanie Thornton similarities, especially when comparing the "tonight is the night is the night of love" part of "Tonight Is The Night" to the "put me up, put me down, out my feet back on the ground" part of "Coco Jamboo."
Also love how this song as the trademark dance-rap of the mid 90's that's been M.I.A. since unless I'm just missing it.

I hate this song. It kind of reminds me of Bananarama's "Cruel Summer," except I like that song.
