Another novelty song. This one mixes country music and techno. It reworks the traditional folk song "cotton eye joe" into a dance song.. Big Big Big hit in Australia and Europe. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nP2nxa3QX8

I'm assisting for two wedding photographers.
I hear this song at least 4 times a week, along with the Electric Slide and Unchained Melody.
This song is so incredibly horrible. But everyone seems to love it. I don't get it.

This track peaked at 25 in the U.S. on the Hot 100.
I really liked this! It was just a nice hi-nrg track. The lyrics are totally silly, but that's what makes it fun. And the video was kinda cool too.

It was fun when it came out, but it's not a great song or anything. It's like trying to say whether or not "The Hustle" or "The Macarena" are quality songs.

I would consider this song to have been a huge hit in the US too. Yes, it got not love from radio stations because they feared the band Rednex (from Sweden) might offend their listeners. Seriously! Pfffff. The single went Top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales chart and was certified gold, selling way over 500,000 copies. And everybody knows this song, everybody. Thus, to me, this was a hit in the US, and deservedly so. And comparing "Cotton Eye Joe" and "The Hustle" to "Macarena" is just wrong. If you want to be blown away, listen to their beautiful ballad "Wish You Were Here", you'll be surprised.

I used to DJ, we played this at about every event. It's one of my favorite novelty songs to play. We avoid "YMCA" at all costs.

I thought this song was so funny back then. I never taken it seriously like this song is terrible. I think they knew the song was terrible when they recorded this. I think this is one of the most annoying dance songs ever, up there with "Short D*ck Man".
