This sounds like their ska roots (surprisingly) mixed with annoying solo Gwen "Wind It Up" crap.
Mess. Flop.

I don't know how I feel about this. Gwen sounds great and its a return to their early sound, which I like, but its just not a high quality track from them.

You guys are aware that this is a cover, right? It's also not going to be released as a single.
That being said, I wouldn't mind them sending to Alternative for fun...it's still a catchy song.
They haven't started recording new material yet and don't plan to until this fall. This was given away as a free download for those who bought top tier seats to their tour - and they're performing it on Gossip Girl or something this month.
Anyway, it's fair - I'm glad they're going back to that "Tragic Kingdom" sound, even if it's much more polished. I think the guitar is way too low in the mix, though, and think they should've have toned the song down so much.
Here's the original (where the "Wind It Up" comparison comes from):

I'm really digging this now. Huge grower. They have to send this to Alternative! I mean, KROQ will play it anyway, but I think this would have a shot at going top 10.

This sounds too much of a heater to me. I hope it's not a first single.

This is really annoying. I hope the album sounds nothing like this.

LA's KROQ (Alternative) and Star 98.7 (Hot AC) on board.

I swear I did a thread for this song, but the search function sucks. I think it's the song that they will do on Gossip Girl.

Gold Soundz, LA's 98.7 has actually evolved quietly from Hot AC to Alternative over the past year and a half. I enjoyed listening to them when I was out there in February.
Anyhow, I'm quite glad this (presumably) isn't the lead single. I think it would have been massively disastrous at Pop. Who was the original artist, though?
