I think its a big surprise that a new, no name R&B artist, singing a old school R&B record, without a big hype machine behind her, currently has the #1 R&B song in the US. in November the song was barely in the top 20 at urban. This is a BIG accomplishment for her. Fair enough. I guess when Jazmine Sullivan did it last year she had Missy on it with her.

I think that the Grammy nomination for this song also boosted it's appeal.

Young Money steals it before the official end of week chart though.

That sucks... both are deserving, I think, but I would rather have Melanie get at least 1 official week in. At least she did hit #1, though... that's enough to call it a "#1 hit"

Melanie Fiona blew the roof off the House of Blues Sunset Strip in West Hollywood over Grammy weekend The R&B songstress opened up for Trey Songz and gained some new fans in the process.

Jason is this a hit in Canada? I figured it'd be huge there via CanCon, but it seems low on the Canadian Hot 100. It's weird seeing Canadian artists like her and Drake flopping at home and blowing up in the US!

I actually heard "Give It To Me Right" in the car this morning LOL.
The only station that plays "It Kills Me" is the Urban station, Flow 93.5 .. "Give It To Me Right" got play on almost every station...Pop/Urban/Hot AC stations. So that felt like the bigger hit, regionally. "It Kills Me" is straight up urban, whereas Give It... has more of a pop edge.
Same with Drake, especially with "Best I Ever Had"...that was ALWAYS on.
As far as official Hot 100 hits, I dont know, but I just judge based on how much I hear on the radio.
