Opening track from their new record Contra, due January 12th on XL. I don't think it's the new single, just the first track they wanted to put out there. It's very...tribal sounding...like a Jungle King Christmas. I hope there's more straightforward pop on the record. The whole Paul Simon thing is getting old...I liked where they were going with stuff like "Campus" and "I Stand Corrected." Listen & Download: www.vampireweekend.com/

Ah, I love this. I like it more than the a lot of the material off their first album, actually.

I like "Cousins" (official first single). It's a bit frantic, but much less cheesy than "Horchata."

"Horchata" and "Cousins" are so disappointing.

I f**king LOVE the two new songs. I was so sick of the first album, but this new stuff is so fun. Very Friendly Fires.

I was all ready for this to be terrible based on "Cousins" and "Horchata", but it's actually pretty good. I still don't love those two, "I Think Ur A Contra" is boring and "California English" is ridiculous, but the rest are all decent, if growers.

I'm really liking this. "Giving Up the Gun" stands out for me right now.

I really love this record now. It's definitely not as immediate as their debut, but after a few listens, it grew on me. The only track I'm not crazy about is "California English."

I like this album, too. After listening to it, I'm kind of wondering why they led with "Cousins."

I like this album, too. After listening to it, I'm kind of wondering why they led with "Cousins." I guess because it's the grittiest track on the record, and they probably wanted some initial hype from mainstream Alternative radio. My favorites are "Giving Up The Gun," "Run," "Diplomat's Son," and "Taxi Cab." "Diplomat's Son" is so well composed...love how they subtlety strung-in the M.I.A. and Beirut samples.

Congrats on the #1 album. Hopefully this will propel them at Alternative radio too, although I still think this album is poor.

It's so funny to me how sometimes you'll think a band is all indie/underground and then they bust out with a #1 album.

Okay, they've lost me. I find Ezra's voice annoying as f**k now.
