I'm not a U2 fan, but i'm sure they came up with something good.

Two of the biggest artists of our generation - as long as this isn't sh*t, it'll be a download smash if nothing else.

The song also features Rihanna and is called "Stranded."

Why is Rihanna popping up on anything and everything related to Haiti? I feel like she's using it a little.

Well, she is native to the Caribbean. I guess that somewhat more closely links her to Haiti than U2 or Jay-Z.

Rihanna appeared on Swedish-Norwegian talk show “Skavlan” in Oslo, Norway, on Thursday (Jan. 21) where she revealed that she will perform the Swizz Beatz-produced “Stranded” with Jay-Z and U2’s Bono and The Edge at Friday’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon in London.
The Barbados-born singer felt “great sadness” when thinking about the earthquake that struck Haiti. “In the Caribbean, we think of ourselves as one big family, one country,” she said. “It’s like it happened to Barbados.”

It's understandable that she'd want to raise awareness for Haiti, but she has the one charity song on iTunes already, now this, then the telecast coming up. It seems a little overboard, like she's trying to raise her own profile by being seen as a "class act" by doing "so much."

I don't really see that... I mean... Jay-Z and U2 are equally trying to be "class acts" and do so much for the cause, as well. Yea Rihanna has an album out but so does Jay... and Rihanna IS from the Caribbean...so it hits closer to home for her than most.

Yea Rihanna has an album out but so does Jay... and Rihanna IS from the Caribbean...so it hits closer to home for her than most. U2 donate tons of time and money each year to charity efforts and actually get their hands dirty helping people in third world countries, and Bono is a UN Peacekeeper Ambassador. Nothing out of character for them helping out. Jay-Z is releasing this, but it's his only one. Plus he is arguably the most influential figure in hip hop right now so his presence here is a good way to get the community involved. And u2 and Jay-Z concpeted this song. RIhanna already has a charity single out, which is great, but then she just jumped on this bandwagon too. I'm not saying she's not touched by what's happening in Haiti, but since she already has a charity single of her own out and then jumps on someone else's high profile charity single after the fact, it just makes me question her motives at least partially.

It doesnt look suspicious at all that Rihanna is doing this. I actually expected it from her because she is from Barbados. People are just reading too much into it.

I'm sure she got on this because of Jay-Z. Her being on the single will give it more appeal, i'm sure they were thinking like that, not some master plan to capitalize off the earthquake lol. Besides charity singles never really help an artist out.

This is now on iTunes and being sold without an artist listed.
The performance was good except Bono's microphone was off and you couldn't hear him, and Rihanna proved my theory by being the only woman on the whole telethon to wear something sparkly and showing skin.

Beyonce had on a damn bedazzled jacket. Her outfit was sparkling a hell of a lot more than Rihanna's and she was singing one of her singles. She couldnt even sing a song that had something to do with the tragedy. And Rihanna wasnt the only one with a dress on, taylor Swift had on a short dress as well....but she is so apple pie I guess its not the same.

Well I heard no1 else mentioning anything about it. No1 expects to see Rihanna covered from head to toe. What she had on was tame in comparison to her usual performance attire.
