According to Roger Friedman: “Angels Cry” is an honest-to-god ballad a la “Vision of Love,” and should be a gigantic success. “Can't wait

Says who? Roger Friedman heard them, but the tracklist hasn't been confirmed.

Says who? Roger Friedman heard them, but the tracklist hasn't been confirmed. She closes her albums with this kind of song. And the songs Friedman listened will be on the album

I don't like it. And it sounds nothing like "Vision of Love."

Everytime Mariah puts out a new album someone claims a song is the new "Vision of Love"

AMEN !!! this is amazing.
Not only is the production tight, but the lyrics are poetic! This is a killer song from all angles!

Great lyrics. But it's the same We Belong Together - Don't Forget About Us - Bye Bye - I Stay In Love production. She shouldn't release this at all, the album has songs with a more diverse sound for her and she needs it

It's the best We Belong Together clone since...WBT. Lyrically and meIodically it sh!ts all over her other attempts at recreating it. It's also a bit poppier, which is crucial for radio right now.
In terms of actual single potential, I'd have to hear the record first. H.A.T.E. could wind up being a much better song and single choice if she takes it to another level at the end, simply because it's definitely not another We Belong Together...the only thing it's reminiscent of is slightly ABMB, and that's because of they use the same (synthesized) guitars.
I wouldn't really count BB as another WBT...it was more of a TGIFY-lite. For The Record had the same theme, but production wise and vocally it was completely different. I'll include Love Story, even though it's not about Heartbreak, because everything else about it seems completely inspired by WBT.
Of the true WBT clones, I'd rate them:
We Belong Together>Angels Cry>Don't Forget About Us>Last Kiss>I Stay In Love>Love Story

I REALLY like it, so far. I wish she could have used live drums though.

This is the best ballad left on the album to be a single. It has much more potential than Hate U

I don't particularly like this. I don't see how it's any different from the other "We Belong Together" retreads. It would be like releasing "I Stay in Love" again.

Every song with a beat will be compared to WBT, she should know this. I'd release this ton the International market, and "H.A.T.E.U." in the US.

I think LA was foolish for releasing a cover over this. It's just as AC, but it's original. Yeah, it would've fit in on the last two albums, but I still think it's really good. I definitely would've went with "Standing O" and "AC" as the first two singles, then "UOMF" and "H.A.T.E.U."

I'm not feeling this yet, maybe it'll grow on me. Between this and HATE U, I prefer the latter.

This is the best ballad left on the album to be a single. It has much more potential than Hate U agreed. There are only 2 "ballad" singles left on the album. Angels Cry & H.A.T.E.U. If I had to choose, Angels Cry would seem like the safer option. In fact, the album (in general) doesn't have many potential singles. Alot of filler unfortunately. The other potential singles are either "Up Out My Face" and "Standing O"
