I'm sure they can get great songwriters, but why spend $500,000 on getting a topnotch songwriter to write a song when they can call some Swedish songwriter and only have to pay a fraction? The song goes to #1 either way. Because if they paid the 500k, they might get an actual hit with airplay and longevity instead of one week of inflated sales followed by falling off the face of the earth.

I actually think this song is decent. With downloads, I think there's a possibility it might not even get that one week, although IMO it'd deserve it kinda.

According to an article I read (on TWOP), the producers get hundreds of songs to choose from. How do they decide which one to use as the coronation song? They listen to each one from the begining until the end of the first chorus. And that's how we ended up with "My Destiny" and "Do I Make You Proud" as the two choices.

I heard him sing for the first time tonight during the Toni performance. My sister and I said at the same time "he sounds like Michael Bolton"

No, you don't make me proud Taylor. I've had so many people already tell me I look like the douchebag and now that he won it's probably only going to get worse.

I don't think this is even going to hit number one. Truely. he'll have basically zero airplay, and the sales alone won't be able to get him a number one.

Don't underestimate the power of the Soul Patrol... they are no Claymates but they've carried this Hick through to the win, they can certainly get him his one-and-only #1.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't be surprised if it got some measure of airplay. I could see it kind of fitting in with the current James Blunt/Daniel Powter sound on radio right now, and barely scraping the top 40. Most successful airplay coronation single since Kelly's! Not saying much of course.

I don't think it sounds bad. This is definitely my third favorite coronation song behind "I Believe" and "A Moment Like This".

Eww, I hate the studio version... that gruntin' towards the end is so out of place... blah!
I Believe, Dreams > every other AI song

Michelle McManus? ... she's got such a dull voice. I heard that Simon pimped her so much that the viewers actually thought he single-handedly made her win.

I can see him having a really popular first album as most Idols do, but nothing after that. I can't really see him having a single on pop radio either, but that's just my opinion.
