Apparently this will be his first single, penned by Tracy Ackerman, Andrew John Watkins, and Paul David Wilson. If he wins, it'll hit stores June 13th (rumour has it the loser will release their single the following week).

I can't stand him. I can't see him release anything that would be a radio hit. He's not marketable at all. Unless they're looking for a AC idol, and that's not even a guarentee. He could have good downloads though.
EDIT: the first single for the winner is penned by Tamyra Gray & Nick Lachey.

So is this his Idol single? What happened to "Make It Real" and/or "Right Through It All" ... were they fakes/decoy single names?

EDIT: the first single for the winner is penned by Tamyra Gray & Nick Lachey. That was a rumour because something appeared on ASCAP. There was never any confirmation. This (and the Katharine title) comes from someone who has proven to be a reliable source throughout the season. And god knows it sounds more promising than "Make It Real" ever did.

Without even hearing it, this is going to flop on radio because all the AI coronation singles since "A Moment Like This" have. However, I t hink the title shows some slight potential, and I heard that Taylor apparently stood up to the producers over the crappy song(s) they were giving out, so they got a new one, so there's a possibility this might be half-decent.

I have more faith in this than Katharine's songs. Taylor is a way more accomplished vocalist and has a much better personality too. I'd much rather see him succeed, but these coronation songs never do anything.

They just grab a week at #1 on the Hot 100 ( and f**k up #1 streaks of more accomplished and deserving artists) and then sink like a brick after that, never to be heard of again.

I program a adult top 40 hits station in charleston west virginia called ultra mix radio which is targeted to buisnesses and colleges etc..., and has listeners from all over the world, playing the best mix of the 80s,90s and now. And i would play a chris daughtry song in a heartbeat and as for Taylor i think if he puts out the right kind of record could have success at adult top 40, hot ac,ac formats. CHR has trouble playing pop hits from people who made pop what it is these days so theres no suprise there, but it is possible to have success outside chr. You got adult hits stations, ac,vh1,tv shows, internet, satelitte, people can view charts and download what they want to theyre ipods, we don't have to depend on chr these days. I see a radio revolution happening in the near future i really do. You can only have mediocrity on top for so long, just like disco and grunge every trend fades but good songs live on forever,AMEN!!!

I like this. The lyrics are corny, but I like the chords and it's catchy.

I think this could actually be a semi-hit, especially with the current climate of slightly older male singer songwriters doing well onradio.

Guess I have to start to like this. The good news is AI singles never get airplay anymore, so it won't be everywhere. He definitely got the better of the two songs, but it's still a crapfest and he really didn't sound that much better on it than Katharine did on hers.

#1 HOT 100 SMASH!
I wonder if this will spend more than a week at #1 now that downloads are in full swing.

I hope not either, it is bad enough they get even one week at number 1.

I think they deserve #1 though. American Idol is one of the biggest cultural phenomenons ever when it comes to music. Even if radio doesn't play the songs, it would be totally wrong to say they're not popular. American Idol may even eventually take advantage even more by releasing live performances to iTunes and then when the knock your socks off live performances are going to #1, I think it will still be representative of the major impact this show has had on the music industry.

Maybe I would feel differently if these first singles were actually decent songs.

Maybe I would feel differently if these first singles were actually decent songs. Yeah, but I can think of songs by established hit-makers that were worse and hit #1. #1 has never been about being the highest quality song. It's just about the most popular.

I know that, but it amazes me that they can get great performers and artists to come on the show yet they can't get great songwriters to write the Idol Song.

I'm sure they can get great songwriters, but why spend $500,000 on getting a topnotch songwriter to write a song when they can call some Swedish songwriter and only have to pay a fraction? The song goes to #1 either way.
