The Telephone video didn't take as long as it seems. Afterall, it was almost Top 20 (or maybe it was Top 20) when the adds date came. It blew up REALLY fast. The video was shot the same week Telephone went for adds.

I was a big fan of Ace Of Base and all those euro type songs back in the day but those songs sound totally out of place now. I never noticed this before, but since reading this I think it kind of does sound like a modernized "Don't Turn Around" by Ace of Base. Similar atmosphere/sound. However, I don't think this would sound too out of place at radio. It is modernized.

You're right! lmao. yes it does she is definitely influenced by them, and this won't do as well as the other singles this will probably break her #1 streak in the U.S. , imho "Monster" is the best choice in the states at the moment. This will probably be huge WW though

Yeah this will be another huge worldwide hit. It'll definitely be a hit in the US too, but I see it peaking around #5 at Pop and struggling to go Top 10 on the Hot 100. "Telephone" is even struggling- what's saving it is the video release. She's had an incredible run but people have bought the album or these songs as album tracks already.

Love it. I really never got into "Telephone" at all. But this is another great one. I'm not a great at predicting at Pop, but I don't see how this can't be at least Top 10. Hot dance beat + Lada Gaga stuttering in the chorus = HIT. The formula works. I totally forgot about that Ace of Base song! I hope they get some royalties off of this Especially for the one that's a shut-in now. Actually this kind of makes me want an Ace of Base comeback. Is that weird? If this is a hit, then why not? Quick question? Is her accent at the beginning supposed to be french or spanish? Just asking.

It's maybe cutting it close releasing it if she's plan for an album even as late as Q4 2010. But I'm glad this became a single after all. It's hot and should be huge.

I don't see this breaking her #1 streak to be honest.

I predict this will explode faster and be bigger than "Telephone".

When you've had (most likely) 6 #1s in a row, continuing the streak must be precarious because it has to end sometime.
Having said that, I have a heard time seeing Alejandro miss the top 5. She's got a once-in-a-decade run, Alejandro isn't too weird, its really quite good, and it seems to be a fit for summer. Once its in the top 5, it can of course be #1.

I guess it really depends on her competition. The chart is sooo lacking right now that this could have a clear shot.

I suppose this is a good single choice. I really think she should release "Speechless." It's risky, but she needs to change it up.

Quick question? Is her accent at the beginning supposed to be french or spanish? Just asking. i always thought she was trying to speak in spanish..trying to sound OTT though like in a mexican telenovela.

Here's an interesting find: Definitely. Don't Turn Around/Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry have very similar production, but I think melodically, it sounds almost identical to "Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry." I originally posted a similar version of this on page 1, but deleted the video later. It's a complete rip off: Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry vs. Alejandro

Local radio is already moving on from "Telephone" and has begun spinning this.
"Telephone" is still on all the time (and sh*t, "Bad Romance" from time to time as well).

I think she filmed it while filming Telephone. I'm pretty sure Beyonce will be in part of it as well.
