Goes for adds April 13. Samples Toto's "Africa." Apparently this was a big hit in Canada like three years ago.
It's kind of nice I guess.. I'll like it until it get overplayed.

WHAT?! This was a HUGE hit last year...it was soooo overplayed it was ridiculous.
The song peaked at #2 for three weeks on the Canadian Hot 100 in March 2009, blocked by 'Right Round' by Flo Rida. It somehow made its way Japan, where it hit #20 on the Japan Hot 100.

That video is so wack! It's about Africa but it looks like it's taking place in Brazil or Puerto Rico or somewhere in Latin America.
I don't get why they're pushing this in the US now. I think it'll flop though.

This is OK. I prefer Toto's "Africa".

I loved it last summer. But I'm actually shocked to learn it didn't go to #1 in Canada...it was EVERYWHERE. I think even AC was playing it at one point. But this is seriously played out, and when all is said and done, the original is obviously way better. I don't think I could take it becoming a hit in the US and then becoming big in Canada again (which it probably would, if only because we have so many American charts on our radio stations).

Should be renamed "Cape Town."

STOP SAMPLING THIS SONG! It's been ruined enough times. This makes that JoJo song which sampled the instrumental look like a classic. Definitely won't fly at Pop radio.

Oh, don't worry Adam, I didn't forget THAT monstrosity. The biggest "Africa"-sampling tragedy of them all. I was hoping to avoid bringing it up altogether.
