This is slated to be the second single from "Recovery." Produced by Alex da Kid.

So basically this will be hit or miss.

So basically this will be hit or miss. I am guessing this won't miss. Eminem visited Skyrock FM in Paris on Tuesday for a rather unrevealing talk about his new album Recovery. Among the topics they barely touched on…
Producers on Recovery include… Just Blaze, DJ Khalil, Mr. Porter, Jim Jonsin, Alex Da Kid, Boi-1da, and Dr. Dre.
The metaphorical video for “Not Afraid” debuts Saturday. “The overall concept is basically just being in a dark place and trying to get to the light.”
Rihanna – “It’s one of those tracks that I felt like only she could pull it off.”

I'm not surprised they're going with the Rihanna feature. She's as much a hitmaker as Justin Timberlake at this point.

I'm not surprised they're going with the Rihanna feature. She's as much a hitmaker as Justin Timberlake at this point. Not quite sure I understand the comparison - JT's last few singles have had a lot of initial hype, and a lot of them went Top 10, but they weren't huge. I honestly am not looking forward to this. I hated her feature on the Bono/Jay-Z song and "Run This Town" as well. She's always so monotone when in hook-ho mode (aside from "Live Your Life"). I was much more anticipating the P!nk collaboration - that could actually be great, whereas this is probably just being released because it's Rihanna. I honestly can't ever see Em having a big comeback on the radio if he keeps releasing such average stuff. "Not Alone" was really melodic, and the hook was nice, but it never really went anywhere...his stuff used to be so epic.

Yeah I think the Pink song would feel like more of an event single. Pink hasn't done "hip hop" type music since her debut, so it feels more like a cross-genre thing. Also Rihanna has been featured on SO many singles as a hook ho, and as far as I can recall this is Pink's first time.

hmmmm how can I say this.....Yeah Pink has had a good run but she doesn't have the same hype hype factor as Rihanna. I can totally see why they would go with the Rihanna song over hers.

P!nk may not be the name that Rihanna is these days, but I agree that it would feel more like an event. Rihanna certainly has become the hook ho of late, so it's not exactly a OMG moment, even though a Rihanna/Eminem collab sounds interesting. P!nk, on the other hand, hasn't been featured on a song since "Lady Marmalade," and hasn't done this genre in a decade as previously pointed out.
When all is said and done, ya I'm curious to hear the Rihanna feature...but I'm excited to hear the P!nk song, and obviously I'm not alone in this.

It's only an "event" if people care and more people care about Rihanna so.....

Rihanna's only been featured on two songs that were singles. I guess it seems like more since they were both so huge. I'm interested in hearing both, although I don't think the song with Pink is going to be Hip-hop. I think it'll sound similar to "Airplanes" or something. And I don't think anything involving Pink would ever be considered an event. She's just not that type of artist.

She can pull of R&B/Soul just as well as she can punk, rock, and pop. It's definitely up for debate, but I think that she and Clarkson have the best voices on Pop radio today. She's a massive talent, and I truly believe that she would've been just as big of a star, if not bigger, in any of the past 5 decades. Obviously nobody has heard either track, so it's hard to say, but I KNOW that she and Eminem have the potential create something as epic as Empire State of Mind. I just can't see the same with Rihanna on board. I know it's ridiculous, but I feel like I can already hear the song...it'll be faux-dark and cheap-sounding with really angry verses, lots of piano, and Rihanna singing an almost rangeless, semi-catchy hook.

Hopefully the Rihanna one is more upbeat.

I'm predicting either this or the Pink song will sound exactly like "Airplanes" and the other will be something completely unexpected.

Well the P!nk one sure as hell doesn't sound like it, although I reckon you could say it's unexpectedly bad.

So, take your pathetic attempt at shade elsewhere.
