According to someone who is in close contact with her:
In about two or three weeks, Beyoncé is supposedly releasing a record. Urban, up-tempo record. #Thatisall The Beyoncé record is on some OTHER sh*t and is SAID to be going into mastering this week. She shot photos for her album cover and packaging, so most likely it’s true So, the Beyoncé record is called “Girl.” Ok, NO MORE info!

I hope this is true. Yay @ urban uptempo. Glad to hear she's not jumping on the dance pop bandwagon.

Beyoncé to dance with 200 African dancers
Thu, 2011-04-07 15:47 — Tracy
Beyoncé is bringing 200 African dancers to Los Angeles today to ensure the dance sequences in her next video are like nothing fans have ever seen.
A source close to Beyoncé said the dancers will help Bey incorporate some of their native moves into her “Girl” music video.
Beyoncé may be having a hard time outdoing her past music video choreography for which she’s earned numerous awards and legions of adoring male fans, including Kanye West who infamously interrupted Taylor Swift’s MTV Video Music Award acceptance speech to praise Bey’s “Single Ladies” video.
When you want inspiration, where better to look than the Motherland?
Whatever Beyoncé has planned for her upcoming video, its success or failure is likely to fall squarely on her shoulders. The Grammy winner, whose upcoming album is due out in June, is now taking control of her own career, the source told S2S.
“She's interviewed hundreds of people and got a great company together and is doing her own label and some other stuff,” S2S was told.
“There’s no ill will between Beyoncé and her father. She just wants to have her own empire and Jay-Z has nothing to do with her management," the source said. “It’s about her evolution as a woman.”

So far, the theme of this record is reminding me of "B'Day," which is definitely the lane she should stay in.

Agreed. Her last album had some good songs but the whole Sasha Fierce concept was forced and made no sense.

Yes, I still listen to B'Day. It's her best album.

This song already sounds like a MESS.
But I usually like her hot mess songs after a few listens anyway.

Samples Major Lazer's Pon the Floor
...And this is why I love living in L.A.
I just heard "Girl."
One of my music industry friends took me to a party tonight and I got a preview of the single. This party was top security; I couldn't even bring my blackberry into the party.
Anyway, the single is absolutely retarded. Haters will cry and careers may end.
Beyonce and her people came up with a true banger. I hope the album is completely uptempo like the single.
Anyway, Beyonce's people are trying to sit on the single until the last week of April (they want the single to drop six weeks before the album's release), but this thing will probably leak in a week or two. Also, the press release will probably be out this week.
The song is weird as hell. Probably the most jarring thing she's done since "Ring The Alarm" in my opinion.
She's definitely taking a risk here. It's a weird dark/tribal/club/urban song. The vocals range from "Telephone" verse vocals, "Diva" verse vocals with a lot of weird vocal effects you can hear throughout the song with the producers playing with the pitch.
It's a club banger x 1000000. Not no corny Lady Gaga/Rihanna s**t either. No shade. It's more tribal/urban tinged.
"Girl! WHO RUN THE WOLRD? Girl! We run this MOTHA! GIRL! WHO RUN THIS MOTHA? GIRL!" is the hook/chant.
And there's a weird/goofy little b-section that loops in the song too. She's harmonizing with herself.
There's a part where she is completely rapping/flowing too. I know that sounds crazy, but the song is crazy!
The intro is like some dark Sleigh Bells/Dubstep s**t that has some really weird chant before the drums kick in and Bey starts the hook. Definitely an anthem!
More descriptions:
This song is "Diva"/"Telephone" mixed for vocals. She's not belting or really doing any runs.
Throughout the song there's this b-section that she does that slows down the song for a minute and she's harmonizing with herself. It's like in her lower register kinda. J, help me out a little bit. It's hard to explain.
She's chanting rap/singing more than giving you full out vocal performance for most of the song, though.
It will be satisfying.
The intro sounds like a darker version of how "Kids" by Sleigh Bells starts off. It has that dubstep sound.
The"Pon De Floor" sample is definitely a direct lift, but there's a lot of s**t going on with the production. It may be one of her most sonically full songs. The intro itself sounds like a completely different song until the drums kick in about 45 seconds into the song. And by full, I mean it is not ABDCEFG or even close to being generic or simple. You won't grasp everything in the first few listens.

Beyoncé was back to work shooting a video for “Girl,” reportedly the first single from her highly-anticipated fourth album. In the first images from the set, the sexy superstar rocks a blonde Pompadour and white Givenchy couture gown while filming scenes in the California desert with director Francis Lawrence (Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”). Sources report that Bey cast an army of dancers in the heavily-choreographed clip. The song has been described as a “club banger,” but we should be hearing something official soon.

The Beyoncé invasion is beginning. Pop’s fierce commander took to the battlefield on day 2 of her “Girl” music video shoot in Inglewood, Calif. Wearing a gold crown and holding a red flag emblazoned with “B,” the 29-year-old singer led an army of women on a post-apocalyptic set. The ladies posed against a ravaged car graffitied with “Revolution” with posters of their leader’s face behind them. The revolution will be televised.

Isn't that song also sampled in "Ass on the Floor"?
If so I wonder if the two will be similar.

Another review...
BEYONCE "GIRL" REVIEW
Beyonce is back and once again has everybody at the edge of their seats. Log on to Twitter and Facebook to see the unbeilevable hype for her new single 'Girl.' Little about the album is known, no title, no release date and no new management have been announced. We know the video is being shot and the Diva has a new look that was teased in a twitpic on the set of 'Girl.' Luckily Boomlikean808 didn't have to wait too long with anticipation, I got to listen to the new single that is sure to set every club on fire.
As soon as the intro to the song hits I knew that the track would be serious. Instantly you recognize the Major Laserz sample from the infectious club hit 'Pon the Floor' which was also sampled by Dirty Money on the Swizz Beatz produced 'Ass on the Floor.' There is no comparison between the two, Diplos (Chris Brown Look At Me Now, M.I.A. Boyz, Paper Planes) production makes Swizzys seem like Childs Play. And y'all know I love Swizz Beatz. 'Girl' is an absolute killer. Beyonce has rose the bar so high that she will even have a difficult time surpassing it.
In a day where everything (including urban music) is in some way related to Euro Pop, Beyonce has a chance to change the sound of radio. The song is massive enough to make up for the lack of authenticity in 'Diva' & the bromidic 'Get Me Bodied' & 'Single Ladies.' Infact 'Girl' is all 3 of those songs rolled into 1 on steroids. The hard hitting production and aggressive vocals come with an equal amount of aggressive lyrics on the girl power anthem. Beyonce asks "Who run the world?" before answering "Girls do!" The cocky singer even shouts out her hubby, singing "Imma bump in my Jeep/ listening to Jay-Z."
Bey deserves a big fat A+ for 'Girl.' And this isn't coming from a Beyonce stan, she was counted out in my book for the simple fact that Pop music has completely taken over almost every genre. She once again set up her own lane to drive in. Even though the track is as gay as a Barbara Streisand concert, its sure to please any music fan, straight, gay, male or female. And for the first time in history i'm excited to hear a Beyonce album. Lets hope Diplo got ahold of majority of the album.
Rihanna, Britney, Gaga & Beyonce are going to make the next 6 months in music very interesting. We're witnessing history people.

All the ladies will big releases at the same time. Haven't seen something like this for a while.
Beyonce and Gaga are basically releasing 'Girl' and 'Judas' at the exact same time.
