This needs to be the single after "S&M." It will hit just as summer arrives and some reggae during those months is perfect.

I initially thought it was album filler too. But it really clicked with me lately.

I still think this is the best song on the album, she kills it. But I don't know about it being a single.

For all formats or just Urban?
You would think they would've released this around the same time as "S&M" if they are just sending it to Urban. But then again this is Def Jam.

Goes for both Urban and Rhythmic adds next week. She's also shooting the video in Jamaica with Anthony Mandler next week.

I'm so glad she's releasing this. I doubt it will do much, but this is one of her best singles IMO.

Rihanna returned to her island roots, traveling to Jamaica to shoot a video for “Man Down,” a fan favorite off her Loud album. In one of the first two camera phone pics from the set, the Barbados beauty rides a bike while filming in Portland, a parish located on the island’s northeast coast.
“WELCOME TA JAMROCK!!! #projectmandown,” tweeted RiRi, who reunited with director Anthony Mandler for the visuals.POP 252 131 RIHANNA Man Down 23 4 19 0.071 + 3 Spins + 0.006 AI RHY 55 45 RIHANNA Man Down 414 249 165 3.451 + 24 Spins + 0.269 AI RIHANNA - Man Down: 5.336 (+ 0.357)

Rum pum pum pum. Rihanna fires off a strong message in the powerful video for “Man Down,” the reggae-tinged single from her latest album Loud. Set against the beauty of Jamaica, the Barbados-born singer tells the compelling story of a sexually-abused woman in the Anthony Mandler-directed clip.
In the opening sequence, a long-haired RiRi is seen shooting a man before flashing back to the prior morning to explain what triggered the deadly series of events. Little Miss Sunshine rides her bike through the parish of Portland, hanging with the boys in her neighborhood, before journeying to a nightclub where she meets a man. After dancing together, he forces himself upon her. She resists his advances, but he doesn’t back down, leaving her in tears.
But it’s Rihanna who gets the final say, taking matters into her own hands and putting an end to her abuser’s life. That’ll teach you a lesson.

Rihanna fired shots in her newly premiered video for “Man Down,” and now she’s the one coming under attack.
The Parents Television Council, a non-profit organization that advocates responsible entertainment, is blasting the red-haired singer for “cold, calculated execution of murder” in her latest video, reports TMZ.
The council is outraged at Rihanna’s suggestion that killing a rapist is a proper form of justice and doesn’t agree with her rationale that it sends “a very strong underlying message 4 girls like me.”
“If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass,” said PTC, who also chided BET for airing the video.
The group previously took issue with Rihanna and Britney Spears’ opening performance of “S&M” at the Billboard Music Awards, likening it to a “Vegas stripper show.”
