Jennifer Hudson of American Idol fame is starring in the film version of the broadway musical "Dreamgirls" where she will play the character of Effie White. Effie has probably the most known song out of the entire production with "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going." Jennifer Holiday originally starred as Effie in the musical where her performance of this not only helped take the musical to great heights, but also her career as recording artist. J. Hudd has big shoes to fill with remaking this. Here is an early version of what is to expect from her remaking this. breathoffreshink.com/listen-up-jennifer-hudson-im-telling-you-im-not-going-from-dreamgirls/Of course she is no J. Holiday, but she did a great job. She MURDERED the end.

I'm actually disappointed by this. She just doesn't connect with the song at all IMO.

Jennifer Holiday's version is just too good, any other version will pale in comparison.

Yuck. I always thought this girl had a problem conveying emotion and she proves that nothing has changed in the past two and a half years. She's good for the screaming and nothing more. She has the personality of a rock.

This has been sent to Urban and Urban AC. It's already on about a dozen Urban stations and a handful of Urban AC stations. It has a few million audience impressions.

I'd rather them just play the Jennifer Holliday original...

Urban AC definitely will. They're really hard on covers, unless the original was never really a hit in it's own right.

Jennifer Holiday's version is just too good, any other version will pale in comparison. Agree! I don't expect anyone to really do this song justice like Jennifer Holiday but Jennifer Hudson did a nice job. I think she has the voice for this record, I couldn't see to many other artists covering this track. But Jennifer Holiday nailed this and made this record strictly her. That's what you have to do. A random artist can come around anytime and make your record their own.

MTV is showing like this brief history of this song and basically saying that a thousand people have tried to sing it but nobody does it like Miss Holiday.
And LMAO. They said that Jennifer Holiday did this song and killed it and is nowhere to be seen now. And then followed it with a "Will Jennifer Hudson follow this same fate?"
