It's only 46 seconds, but the preview of Amy Winehouse's duet with Tony Bennett is enough to make all the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. As if she never left us, "Body & Soul" is slated to appear on Tony Bennett's Duets II album. The song was recorded in March (Amy passed away in July). Her verse is beautifully sung, and the song's jazzy undertones fit her voice like a glove. The piano lilts in, and Tony and Amy blend together seamlessly as they both showcase their stunning vibratos: "I'd gladly surrender myself to you/Body and soul."
Earlier this month, Tony Bennett spoke to Rolling Stone about the untimely death of his collaborator. He recalls, "She was really the best of all the young artists that I met in the current scene in the last 10 or 15 years. She was really singing true jazz. It's just too tragic. I wanted to talk to her and tell her that if she doesn’t stop she's going to die. I wanted to talk her out of the drugs, but unfortunately I never had a chance to talk to her."
If the Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse duet isn't enough to entice you to buy the record, Mr. Bennett has graciously announced that all proceeds from the sale of "Body & Soul" will go to the foundation that Amy's father Mitch created in his daughter's name.
Though "Body & Soul" inevitably reminds us of Amy's tragic passing, it also shows us just how gifted Amy really was, and the song serves as yet another testament to her musical legacy.

This style of song isn't really my cup of tea.... but it's really really nice to hear her voice.

She sounds amazing on this. It's a shame we never got to hear her do this type of record.

Isn't this a remake? It that's the case it's eligible or ROTY but not SOTY. And I think it has a chance...
