Attaching Calvin Harris' name to this made me MUCH more interested. Excited, even. Same. I hope he gets a feature credit too. He's still so unknown in the US compared to many other popular DJ's from abroad.

I'm starting to think she's a robot. She always have me robot vibes. She's nonstop and doesn't have a lot of personality, and is a studio puppet. Create robots- maybe the pop stars of the future!

well it's fairly easy for her...she doesn't write, she doesn't produce anything..she just goes there and picks the nice song she likes and it's over. Her input is minimum.

No work behind it at all. People are probably working on her 2012 album at the moment before she's finished recording the one coming out this year and before she knows about it.

Calvin Harris Produces Rihanna's New Single
Rihanna’s next single is coming soon - and it will be produced by Calvin Harris, JustJared.com can confirm.
The 23-year-old singer is gearing up for the release of her new album later this year and will soon release the new single, which is a fun club banger.
Calvin, who has produced his own songs such as “Bounce” featuring Kelis and “Feel So Close,” joined Rihanna on the Australian leg of her Loud tour earlier this summer.
“Calvin is the perfect fit for the Loud tour. He is going to bring something unique and fun for the fans,” Ri previously said about her new producer.
Calvin just tweeted, “Yes, [I'm] touring with Rihanna for next three months starting next week!!”

This reminds me of the circumstances under which "Only Girl" debuted. I will be a very happy man if this rivals that song's hotness.

I don't even understand the point of releasing "Cheers' if this song was coming THIS soon.

I don't even understand the point of releasing "Cheers' if this song was coming THIS soon. Right. I said that when it was released as a single. This new album is completely unnecessary, especially since she will be touring Europe until December with a show almost every night. There's no time to promote anything. Some people are saying that she wants to get out of her contract with Island Def Jam since she signed a 6 album deal, but I'm pretty sure she renegotiated a few years ago.

What does the deal include? Including remixes and re-releases she actually has nine under Def Jam so I don't think she's trying to break contact.
It makes sense because Rihanna releases albums every year but they almost hurt the era from jump by releasing "Cheers".

twitter.com/#!/rihanna/status/115460710691127297I don't have a problem with her releasing new music so soon, as long as it's hot. I was thinking that about "Cheers", though...it's not even going to be officially over by the time they release a new single. I do think they kind of mis-managed the release of "Cheers", though. It should have been released months earlier, so it could have been a summer anthem. But, I think at this point maybe they realize "Cheers" isn't going to be a massive #1 so why prolong its death lol...it's already done what it was gonna do. I don't have a problem with her releasing a new album/single so soon, but they still could have waited to release the single on New Year's Eve (make a big splash) and then the new album in March. (but, they always like to maximize her sales and usually release her in the 4th Quarter to capitalize on holiday sales). This Fall is fine by me, but if they wanted to let "Cheers" run its course then they could have gone with that option.

rihanna Rihanna No teasin' U waited long enough... 18 Sep LOL @ the notion that she's kept ANYONE waiting when her fifth single off an album that dropped less than a year ago is just entering the Top 10. I'm really excited to hear this, but even I think this is a little too soon. Are they that antsy to capitalize on holiday sales? In hindsight, skipping "California King Bed" and releasing "Cheers" fourth and last would have been the best course of action - at least there would be a slight break like there was between "Rude Boy" and "Only Girl." Whatever. As long as the song's hot, you won't hear a single complaint out of me, but even I'm surprised they didn't hold off a few weeks for "Cheers" to lose steam.
