New single coming from Rascal Flatts in 2006. It's awesome! If you're apart of their official website you can have a full listen! It's a #1 for sure. I cannot stop listening to it!

I actually don't particularly care for the verses. The chorus has a nice hook, but the verses bug me.

Like I already said in the other thread, I prefer the pop version performed by S Club's Jo. It just works better as a pop song, IMO.

Nashville, TN … Today, Rascal Flatts make history for Lyric Street Records with the release of their latest single. 107 R&R stations added “What Hurts The Most,” making this the largest number of adds in a single week in Lyric Street’s eight-year history. Rascal Flatts surpass the Lyric Street add count milestone previously set by Garth Brooks. Prior to today, Rascal Flatts’ biggest single add week was in January 2004 with 78 adds for “Mayberry.”
This is from their official website! Way to go, that's awesome!

The fact that they covered S Club bothers me, but it's a nice song. They'll probably have one hell of a difficult time ever coming close to "Bless The Broken Road" again though.

Seeing how it was the most-added song on Country radio, they probably won't have a problem. You should listen to the Mark Wills version. That's pretty solid too..

I meant in terms of quality and critical respect. "Bless The Broken Road" was the second biggest country hit of the year and was still hugely respected and Grammy nominated. An S Club cover is not going to do that for them. I doubt it will make the Top 3 for 2006 even with all these early adds. Gretchen Wilson's lead single had an enormous first week too and it basically flopped in the end.

Oh, I get what you mean... I just think the average listener and RF fan isn't gonna know that it is a cover of a now-defunct British band! The song has strong legs and the RF flavor ... so it should be able to stand on its own. I'm not saying its a guaranteed hit... believe me, in this day and age, its almost impossible to predict that sort of thing for any song.

It was actually Jo who released the song as her lead single off her debut album, which came out just this summer.

No problem! Like I said, I definately prefer the Jo version, it's more appropriate for her voice.

Yeah, its a nice rendition. Hmm, I don't know though... the first time I heard this song was by RF. Listening to Jo's version now is just... weird. But its OK... not a big a fan of it as compared to the RF and Mark Wills versions. But thanks for sharing it!

Songs get recycled all the time and are still hits. Look at Mark Wills. He has had a couple of his hits be pop hits and has done a pop song and made it a hit. John Micheal Montgomery had a couple of his songs be pop hits as well. I really love this song and have listened to it about 500 times. I think it is one of their best to date vocally. It's already at 21 on mediabase and is climbing fast. I can't wait for the album!

I think this song will be huge. I've been a member of their fan club since the beginning and I have NEVER seen such a response to any other single of theirs.
And hey, BLBR was a cover as well, but no other artist was able to do anything with it.

The music video is up on Yahoo! Music Videos... I like it. Very dramatic, and quite depressing... very similar to the Greenday - Wake Me Up When September Ends video.

#10 on iTunes and it's only been on since this morning. Country songs never make it this high on iTunes.. if you even want to call this country because most of their songs sound straight up pop to me. They are huge though. Top 10 on iTunes and an album headed for 700k.
I have to admit, I'm kind of annoyed by the success of this. "Bless The Broken Road" should have had this success.

I doubt it will make the Top 3 for 2006 even with all these early adds. I might as well eat my words 9 months early.

i still hate this. They could have produced something so much better, but didn't. Honestly, I think each album keeps getting worse and worse.
