I loved this when I first heard it... so long ago. Honestly, I'm burnt out on it now. I still wish it success at the format though!

I like this fine, but I'm not sure I want it to be a smash. I'd just as soon see Matchbox Twenty stick around a while.

I'm hoping downloads start to take off as a result of the AMA's.

#40 on iTunes, completely out of nowhere, as a matter of fact, I think that's higher than TIHAHB did. I really think their was a lot of response to the AMA performance, and that this song will be one of the biggest Hot AC hits of 2006. Probably Top 10 for the year.

It's obviously going to fall down iTunes again before radio really starts to play it, but nonetheless this shows people are feeling the song. I think it'll be a Top 10 iTunes song later on, after this is a hit.

It was a fantastic performance. The song deserves to be a hit, but I'm not sure even that will be enough. Remember, Bright Lights had an awesome live performance behind it as well.

I think once the new year comes around this will explode, it has a very good bullet compared to the rest of the chart, where the highest bullet a song has in the Top 20 is +65 (Alanis Morissette), he has a +185 bullet. This should be Top 20 in two weeks if it stays on this pace, maybe even sooner if bullets jump back up, but I'm not totally sure how that works because I think some Hot AC start playing a decent amount of Xmas songs as well.

+285, this bullet just keeps getting bigger. I think this is a very good candidate for the next #1 following Because Of You.

One of my least favorite songs on Rob's solo CD. But I like it, sorta. Just think the lyrics are kind of weak. The "I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me" lyric just seems so trite and huried. Like not much thought went into it. But I want it to be a success for him cuz he's such a neat guy. And I'm really hoping they'll release another single from STB if this one is really big. But agree that the AMA performance was fantastic. I like that version better than the album version. The video seems a bit boring to me. But when I read some people's interpretations of its meaning and I liked it more. Something about spreading love through the world. Supposedly the lyrics of the song are what are on those little notes, but I don't get that from the actual video. That's what what written in the treatment that someone posted.

I actually think these are some of Rob's best lyrics yet for a ballad. Take the first and second verses especially. There's a feeling of imagery you feel there that you don't feel quite as vividly in some of his previous ballads, when he sings: "we were drawn from the weeds, we were brave like soldiers, falling down under the pale moonlight", and in the second verse, "we would stand in the wind, we were free like water, flowing down under the warmth of the sun."Now that's songwriting right there. I think this is one of Rob's best yet. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think the song is even more powerful when you know what Rob & his wife's history is over the past few years. Then you look at the album and can pick out at least four songs that were written about the anxiety that her illness caused them.

I felt that influence especially in "When The Heartache Ends", and though I believe Rob certainly had faith she's recover, it nonetheless brought out some of the darkest side in him in "Now Comes The Night". I kind of think the detailed verses followed by a very simple chorus may be making some sort of point. The words of the chorus could be making a statement about how profound the relationship is just by stating them cut and dry. Sometimes simple is best in capturing deep feelings.
