mms://66.186.0.101/allaccess/franthef.wmaThis goes for adds on January 23. It's my favorite Franz single to date, but I still like "Walk Away" more and wish we got that one first instead. This is really catchy and has a great guitar work. It deserves to be their biggest hit to date, but their album underperformed so I don't know how receptive radio will be. I just hope it does well enough to ensure a release for "Walk Away."

I like this as well. I think the video is already out, but I haven't watched it yet...

I also prefer "Walk Away" which really deserves a release. This is good though - like you said hopefully it will do well enough to warrant another single.

I actually prefer this to "Walk Away." Although I think "WA" would probably make a good third or fourth single.
The single possibilities just aren't as strong on this album as the first one IMO.

I agree with everything you said. The riffs here are insanely catchy, and I have no doubt that this would do better as the second single than "Walk Away." But there are less options for singles.

We'll find out how many adds this got tomorrow. I don't see this on Taking Off at all though. I really hope they get a hit out of this. Quality wise, it's their best US single yet. My concern is too much time passed since the last single and their album isn't really selling well.

Only 10 adds. Hardly a smash in the making, but hopefully it'll be a slow builder. This is too good to not be a hit.

I caught the video for "The Fallen" on MTV2 last night, and while it's not bad, it sucks compared to the "Walk Away" video. It's basically a live video with some scenes that remind me of a rock version of the "Gold Digger" video thrown in. Anyway, here's a link to watch it: music.aol.com/artist/main.adp?artistid=607885

It flopped.

Yeah... it didn't even just flop, it bombed. Dead on arrival. It's unfortunate because this is the type of song rock radio could use right now to really round out the playlist, and I like it better than their hits.

Whoa, can't believe it was dead out of the gate like that. If this bombed, I can't see "Walk Away" doing much better.
Back to the drawing board I guess, and hopefully they go back to Tore Johansson. This project overall just wasn't as strong as their debut.

In the UK this is going to be a double A-Sided single, the new song is called "L Wells" and it was recorded in Australia.

The tracklisting for the UK single release looks like this:
7" 1: 1. The Fallen 2. Lindsey Wells
7" 2: 1. The Fallen (Ruined by Justice) 2. Lindsey Wells 3. Brown Onions
CD: 1. The Fallen (Edit) 2. Lindsey Wells 3. Jeremy Fraser 4. The Fallen (Ruined by Justice) 5. The Fallen (Video)

I remember reading somewhere that the band was so mad that their songs showed up on payola reports that they completely went against it, and considering almost every song on radio gets some sort of payola, that may be the reason this bombed.

I really loved "Do You Want To" but it was a little annoying. "The Fallen" is better and it was deserving of a chance at radio

It's a shame this flopped. Are they going to release another single?

It's a shame this flopped. Are they going to release another single? Doubtful. They only released two singles from their last album, and that was with two bigger hits. They should just give "Walk Away" a try though, mainly because it's the best video of '06 so far and it's already made. It would flop at radio, but at least it might pick up a few new fans from Fuse/MTV2.

They're already focusing on their new album, so I don't expect anymore singles from this. I think they're one of those bands that want to release an album every year.

I don't like that, because they have good enough material to release at least 5 singles. Most of their songs are catchy and fun.

I have a feeling they might release "Walk Away." They have US tour dates lined up all through April, and they're making appearances on Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel in May. It would seem strange to schedule those with no song to promote.

This is going to be released on 3rd April in the U.K. as a double A-side with new single "Lindsey Wells".
It's one of the best off the album and a strong return to form- much better than "Walk Away" which I didn't like all that much. Hopefully it will go Top 10, but because the album has been out so long I think more likely somewhere in the lower half of the Top 20.

Franz Ferdinand is my #1 favorite of all time. I loved his first cd and I love his second just as much. I like all of the songs. To be perfectly honest I thought that they were just a one hit band but they've made it pretty well for themselves.
