The description makes it sound kind of an odd choice for a single. I'm sure it'll be great though. I can't wait. Also this is basically my favorite song of all time +1. (Let's see how many people follow )

Sounds epic. And I like epic.
And DMB sucks.

Yeah, the description makes it sound really good, and different. Which is important when you consider that "Speed Of Sound" was basically a mash-up of "Clocks" and "Running Up That Hill" and suffered because of it.

Jesus Christ. At least they're not just ripping only Radiohead and U2 now.

Puhlease, he's starting to sound like Brandon Flowers.

Puhlease, he's starting to sound like Brandon Flowers. But while Brandon Flowers is serious, Chris is being completely sarcastic.

While he may be sarcastic, there's so much truth to them being (as Chris said) "the most enthusiastic plagiarists in the world."
X&Y was straight up heavily influenced by U2 and there's no denying it.
Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head sounded like "What's The Story Morning Glory."
Since the beginning he has used the exact same inflection and vocal techniques that made Thom Yorke (Radiohead) famous.
From October 2007: “It’s a plagiarist’s paradise. We used to just be able to steal off Radiohead. Now we can steal off everybody.”
Sure, all music is inspired by other music, especially now when samples are so prevalent. It's like any other form of art. Oasis was heavily inspired by The Beatles and The Who, but I feel like their influences were far more subtle.
I'm sure a lot of people are rolling their eyes, but one of the main reasons I've never been able to fully embrace Coldplay as a band is for this reason. Bono and Oasis are far past their glory days anyway, so it wasn't exactly painful when Coldplay revisited them. I can actually sit back and enjoy their music, but their sound has always blatantly ripped off other popular music of the past and they're so obvious about it.
I didn't hate "Beverly Hills" because it was so damn cheesy, but because it was some of the most obvious plagiarism (Steve Miller, "The Joker") that I've ever heard.
Each to his own, though, and props to them for getting away with it. After all, familiarity does breed contempt. "Don't Panic" is still one of my favorite songs of all time, even if it does sound like a lost Radiohead track from "The Bends."

It's nice. I'm not impressed with this album so far.

This would have been an awful first single. The instrumentation is good though.
