Saw them on Soccer AM and was dismayed to hear that they've fallen for the 'it's our second album, we've got a load more money to spend on it, let's get strings all over it' syndrome. I actually quite like some of their recorded stuff but they are one of the worst live bands in the UK today. Maybe I'm old fashioned in these days of Autotune and technical studio wizadry that can even make Britney Spears sound like she can sing, but I will always ultimately judge a band/artist on whether they can reproduce their songs in the live arena. This band fail miserably at that.

While I can't claim to have actually seen them live, they sound pretty damn good on their Sessions@AOL EP.
And as long as it's not the best album of the last 20 years, I'm fine with what the hell they wanna do with their own album.

On Radio 1 at about 11 this morning. There's a live performance from last August on YouTube, but I haven't listened to it yet so I don't know how similar it is to the final version.
Fears that they'd be Sam's Town-ing it are pretty unfounded from the sound of things, it would fit perfectly onto Stars... and would be in the top half IMO, however, it wasn't getting good texts.

Don't care for this much. It sounds generic. It's definitely no "Cash Machine" or "Hard To Beat".

It's okay. All of the singles from their debut were better.

There's only so much you can tell from the live performance, as far as how much you'll like the studio HQ version of the song.
But going from that live performance, I think it has a lot of potential in its final form.

Heard the studio version now. A little very disappointed. Sorry Will It's nice but it doesn't even sound like a rock song. It's like some messy pop song mimicking Duran Duran's "Rio" or something.

Catch the Take Me Out riff! They actually played 30 secs of this song (the oh oh oh der der der bit) on Soccer AM when the band appeared on the show with Noel Gallagher. Gallagher was asked what he thought of the song and he replied:
'Great lyrics' LOL.
PS Agreed about this song sounding a mess.

Well, the performance sucks one way or another; I still have hope that I'll like the studio version. I'll be disappointed if this album is not good.
I was just listening to Stars Of CCTV this morning and I remembered how solid it was.
EDIT - Wait! Nevermind: I'm listening to the studio version right now. It's not terrible, but it's nowehere near as good as any of the singles off the first album. The track is actually pretty hot, but the melodies are not catchy at all.
I still have hope left for the album.

I forgot this song even existed until I just saw the topic bumped.... despite how much I was anticipating it.

Video was OK. Basically them performing the song in front of some satellites ("we rock the satellite..." I suppose). It gets darker and the performance gets beamed around the world interrupting a football match, on a big screen in Tokyo etc.
