They've been hyped up as the new Arcade Fire, and I've had their demo on repeat nonstop for the past month. They're more like The Cure to me. "I'm Not Going To Teach Him How To Dance With You" and "I've Underestimated My Charm Again" are amazing. Listen: www.myspace.com/blackkidsrock

Yeah, they sound like a modern and poppy The Cure. I prefer the instrumentals over the vocals. "I'm Not Going To Teach Him How To Dance With You" it's fun.

I really love the new single version of "Dance With You", and the Twelves mix is excellent - they actually made the song dancey. Added to the "1-Upfront List" on Radio One.

^ I like it.
Black Kids have been added to this year's T4 On The Beach Festival. The one day affair which also features Sam Sparro, Robyn and The Feeling takes place at Weston-Super-Mare July 20.

^ At first I was kind of surprised by that. But I keep forgetting that "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend..." was actually a decent-sized hit there. I still haven't gotten around to listening to this, but I'm happy to see them having success.

Pitchfork gave this a 3.3.
This is the review:
So alternative.

LOL at the Pitchfork review! Is it really that bad then? I must admit I still love "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend..", but "Hurricane Jane" really put me off buying the album. I sometimes wonder if the Pitchfork office is full of people with a mental age of 5.

Q gave it 4 stars - I think PF are just overreacting for some reason, because they did like the Wizards Of Aaaaah EP, so maybe they got their hopes up, expected something brilliant and were disappointed despite it to most being a good album? Either way, the lack of review was frustrating, I wanted to know what they actually thought - yet they went for the childish picture as per usual.
What songs are worth investigating besides "I'm Not Gonna..". I heard that "I'm Making Eyes At You" is also excellent.
