I can't even think of the last time that an instrumental song became a mainstream or urban hit. Seems like it was back in Kenny G's day...
But it was much more common back in the 1970s when instrumentals from Billy Preston, Average White Band, etc all became big hits. This is one of my favorites-- the follow-up to the equally excellent song "T.S.O.P. (The Sound Of Philadelphia)."
"Sexy" had a really great guitar riff and an awesome interplay of instruments. Really funky track.

This is HOT! The '70s had some of the best Instrumental tracks. The production is amazing.
