Classic! This was the first single from his debut album, Ready To Die. It's about Biggie's rise to the top and making it big. I'd say this is a standout track for him and one of his best. It samples "Juicy Fruit" by Mtume's. Excellent beat and lyrics (especially where he pays homage to some classic hip-hop artists). It peaked at #27 on The Hot 100.

I only like 3 or 4 songs by him and this is one of them.

I know this is considered a hip-hop classic, but I actually don't like this very much. BIG's flow is hot, of course, but I just like the original Mtume song so much more than this.

I feel when it comes to Biggie, you just have to get over the samples because most of his best songs were so good largely in part because of the sample. So when taking the lyrics mostly into account, this is one of my absolute favorites by him.

I love this, it owes a lot to the sample though.

This is an undeniable CLASSIC. They still play it in the clubs and I love it. You still see people singing along to it.
