Criminally overlooked track from 1987. Jill Jones started out as a writer and back-up singer for Teena Marie before becoming a long-time Prince protege (she's the female voice in "1999" and "Hello"). She had a brief part in Purple Rain and worked on her debut album with him for almost four years off-and-on while he was doing his other projects. Unfortunately, when it finally came out in 1987, it was horribly promoted and flopped miserably (like most Paisly Park releases). They started on a second album, but had a huge falling-out during Graffiti Bridge and stopped working together (although most of the unreleased material leaked and is widely bootlegged).
Her debut album is easily the best protege album to come out of Paisley Park, and is probably the best Prince album Prince never recorded himself (well, technically he did, ghost-wrote and ghost-produced the whole thing). And unlike most of the other females in his camp, Jill could sing. For any Prince fans or fans of 80's R&B, the album is definately a must. Great stuff, and highly sought after by collectors I might add.

I love this song. Her vocals were so obviously influenced by Teena Marie. The only other song I've ever heard by her is "All Day, All Night" which is another excellent song.
