This is an album track from Babyface's The Day album from 1996. It might be my favorite Babyface song. It's an acoustic R&B ballad with a whimsical feel, sweet melody, and a really smooth chorus. I always wished this was a single.

This was an all-around excellent album! "Seven Seas" was definitely one of the standouts. It took me a while to appreciate the song, but now that I do, I really like it. There were so many songs on that album that could have done well as singles: "Seven Seas," "All Day Thinkin'," "Talk To Me," etc. Unfortunately, I never thought that "How Come, How Long" was one of them.

I love "How Come How Long" but it was totally a single just for the message and it being a duet with Stevie Wonder. The song didn't really have hit potential, and it underperformed in comparison to the first two singles. He could have got another big hit with one of the songs you mentioned.

It's okay, but honestly, Babyface as a solo artist was already really boring to me at this point. My favorite songs by him are his late 80's and really early 90's songs. I liked him much more as a writer and especially as a producer.

I completely agree that the early-to-mid 1990s period when he was writing and producing everyone and their mama was phenomenal.

This was a really good song. And this album was really solid as well.

Fantastic song! I think it is a truly perfect song. Everything from the melody to the lyrics to the vocals to the instrumentation is very pleasing to the ears.
