Hot uptempo jam from her album debut album. Catchy as hell and the vibe is really hot. "Southern Hummingbird " is a great album, and she deserved a lot more success because I think she's really talented and it sucks that "Oops" represented the whole album.

Don't even get me started. I expected this to be the third single being that they loved marketing her as this little dance ho. It was a great song though. "Make Ur Move" was really similar and I loved that one too. Like you said, it absolutely sucks that she's known for "Oops" and it didn't help that after that she got another Top 10 with a dance song about sex. I mean it worked to get her hits, but people don't realize that the girl writes and even plays her own instruments. She had a heavenly voice too. She reminded me of Minnie Riperton vocally. The album was one of my favorite R&B albums of 2002 definitely. I thought her sophomore album was decent too. It wasn't as good as Southern Hummingbird but it should not have bombed as horribly as it did. It's biggest fault was that it was way too ballad heavy and "Turn Da Lights Off" was a horrible lead single. Fortunately for her she does have Missy Elliot behind her and she didn't get dropped. I heard she's going to be doing her next album with Timbaland.

I love this track. And I agree with Josh on most of his points, her debut album was fantastic and her voice is one of the most underrated in the industry right now.
That being said, I think her sophomore album was a huge letdown. Most of the songs were tuneless, hookless, and downright sludgy. It just didn't work. "Turn Da Lights Off" is the best song on the album, so I see why they released it.
I hope Timbaland steers her in the right direction on her next album.

I think that "Turn Da Lights Off" is so boring. "We Don't Need No Water" was a better choice for the first single, that sound was hot a that moment.

"We Don't Need No Water" was my pick for the lead single too even though it wasn't really a great song and wouldn't help to improve the public's view of her. "Things I Don't Mean" was my favorite uptempo on that album, but my favorite overall was "Small Change".

There were no great singles on the album. "WDNNW" would have flopped just as hard IMO.

I agree that anything would have flopped as the lead single. One of her biggest mistakes was taking three years between albums. Most people consider her a one-hit wonder even though she has two Top 10 R&B hits.. but being that she's pegged as a one-hit wonder, she shouldn't have taken so long. She should have been back a year later with a hot lead single.
