To start off, no, I'm not talking about "I Get Lonely". People usually think you are when you bring up this song. lol
This was part of the quiet storm suite at the end of the Rhythm Nation album. This has always been one of my favorite Janet songs, if not my favorite. I can't even stress how much I love Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis's quiet storm production of the late 80's whether they were producing for Alexander O'Neal, New Edition, Janet, or whoever. They had this perfect sound. This particular song had latin undertones. The lyrics sound kind of like corny friendship lyrics, but the way she sings it and the sexy latin speaking always made me view this more as a love song.
A&M originally intended on releasing two more singles after "State Of The World" (which would have been a massive string of ten singles from one album) and the plan was for those to be "The Knowledge" and "Someday Is Tonight". This was one of only two songs on the album that were never considered as singles, which is kind of sad to me but I like that it got to stay a little album gem. Among her fans, this seems to be the most popular song that wasn't released as a single from her 80's albums.

Yeah, this is a really good song. I love all three of the ballads at the end of that album.

Definitely one of her finest ballads. The song and her vocals are really sexy.

The video was shot in Paris, right?

The video was shot in Paris, right? This wasn't a single.

Ohh...I'm confused I guess. I saw a video from her the other day, it was shot in Paris, and it was a single from Rhythm Nation.

This and "Someday Is Tonight" are very similar to "Come Back To Me". They were the last three songs on the album.
